Lose to a Bluff

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Sergio Martinez Gonzalez
Sergio Martinez Gonzalez

This hand was picked up on the turn with 170,000 in the middle on a board that read Q97Q. Sergio Martinez Gonzalez bet 65,000 from middle position and was called by Ian Matakis from the cutoff.

The 5 peeled on the river before Martinez Gonzalez bet 300,000, which was enough to put Matakis all-in as he had 270,000 left.

Matakis went into the tank as he played all his time banks to mull over the decision.

Matakis opted to fold his hand to yield the pot to Martinez Gonzalez.

"I was afraid I'd lose to a bluff," said Matakis after the fold.

"Can you beat ace-nine?" replied Martinez Gonzalez.

"No," said Matakis.

"Then you lose to a bluff," responded Martinez Gonzalez with a chuckle.

Nagy Doubles Through Martirosian

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Players were already heads up and on the turn with the 7A26 showing. The pot stood at 170,000 and Gergo Nagy was all in for his last 120,000 from middle position. He was covered by Artur Martirosian in the big blind.

Gergo Nagy: AQJ6All in
Artur Martirosian: 10932

Nagy had flopped top pair and turned two pair, while Martirosian had a pair of deuces and was hunting the heart flush draw.

The Q river card didn't change anything and Nagy kept his seat in the tournament.

Martirosian Leads; Sternheimer Chips Up

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen raised to 70,000, and was called by Philip Sternheimer on the button and Chris Frank in the small blind. They checked the 984 flop to the J turn, on which it checked to Sternheimer, who bet 85,000.

Two calls later, players headed to the J river, on which it checked to Sternheimer once more. He used one time bank and then bet 505,000 into a pot of 580,000, forcing two quick folds.

While the hand played out, Daniel Negreanu vividly remarked that Artur Martirosian always had the nuts. In the most recent hand that was happening at the same time, Martirosian knocked out Lou Garza when his AQQJ turned a straight on the 1092KK runout to send Garza to the rail.

Klezys Hanging By a Thread

Level 10 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Kasparas Klezys was down to one green chip, but scored two double-ups to gain a fingerhold again.
