Armstrong Gets a "Nice Catch"

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jamie Armstrong faced the shove of Dominic Bertram from under the gun for more than 14 big blinds and reluctantly called out of the big blind.

Bertram: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Armstrong: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Armstrong flopped a flush draw on {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and, while the {Q-Spades} turn was of no help, he got there with the {A-Spades} river. Bertram left the table with a "nice catch" and headed to the payout desk.

Zhang Eliminates Liberto and is One of the Chip Leaders on the Day

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Justin Liberto was in the hijack and raised all in. Chi Zhang was in the small blind and called.

Zhang tabled {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Liberto showed {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} and, even though Liberto flopped a set, Zhang's straight took down the pot in the end.

Romero Takes Two

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
James Romero Takes Out Two
James Romero Takes Out Two

James Romero raised and picked up four callers including Sidney Hasson in the blinds. Hasson shoved the {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop for 30,000 into a pot of 50,000 and Romero called. After a fold, Rania Nasreddine then shoved over the top and Romero was the only caller.

Hasson: {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Nasreddine: {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Romero: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The {K-Diamonds} on the turn improved nasreddine to a straight, but it was no good as Romero had both opponents drawing dead with a full house. Hasson even made a meaningless flush with the {8-Clubs} river before heading to the payout desk. There are less than 90 players remaining and they will head into the dinner break at the end of this level.

Abtellatif Flushes Karlins and Niedringhaus

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jonathan Abdellatif
Jonathan Abdellatif

David Niedringhaus moved all in for his last 26,000 and Marvin Karlins called from the small blind with a stack of around 100,000 in total. Jonathan Abdellatif moved all in out of the big blind and Karlins called.

Niedringhaus: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Karlins: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Abdellatif: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Niedringhaus was excited about having a straight flush draw. Abdellatif replied, "We all have," and Niedringhaus indeed had just one out for the straight flush or running outs for a full house to avoid elimination. The {A-Diamonds} turn improved Abdellatif to the best hand and the {6-Clubs} river was of no help for either player at risk.

Chen Shoves Into Vanier

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Pete Chen raised from early position and found one caller in Mike Vanier in the big blind, who called and checked the {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop. Chen bet 14,000 and was called before Vanier check-called another bet worth 25,000 after the {4-Hearts} turn.

The {4-Spades} river paired the board and Vanier checked the third street in a row. Chen moved all in for 112,000 and Vanier had less than that behind, elected to fold.
