Bandy and McEwan Double

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

At almost the same time and on neighboring tables, Matthew McEwan and Nate Bandy locked up doubles to stay in contention.

Bandy got there for his last 35,000 with {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} of Justin Liberto after spiking a nine on the flop of a board {J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

McEwan got into a raising war with table neighbor Daniel Wagner and the latter flipped over {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. McEwan had a coin flip with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and the board came {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to give McEwan a full house.

Down to One Section in Brasilia

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Four different tournaments kicked off in Brasilia today and Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em took the lion's share of the tables at noon when Day 2 kicked off. Since, an entire section broke and the remaining field of less than 120 players is all in the same section.

Maturi Holds Against Flush Draw

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With about 25,000 in the pot and the board reading {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Alex Maturi was in the small blind and heads up against Everett Carlton in the big blind. Both players got it in on the flop with Maturi covering Carlton's stack of 123,500 by 2,000.

Maturi tabled {2-}{2-} for a set of two's and Carlton showed {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a flush draw.

The board bricked off with the {4-Spades} and {9-Clubs}, sending the pot to Maturi and eliminating Carlton.

Karlins Busts Rhodes

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

"Now I have the big stacks here," Marvin Karlins joked after having just busted Phillip Rhodes when his {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} held up against the {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} of Rhodes. Karlins wasn't referring to himself as the chip leader, but he instead faces Jonathan Abdellatif from one seat over and Ernest Smith, who he shared a table with before already.

Hall Makes a Good Fold

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Galen Hall
Galen Hall

Gary Hansen was in middle position and raised to 7,500. Galen Hall was in the small blind and called, as did the big blind.

The flop was {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Hansen bet 8,500. Hall called and the big blind folded.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Hall check-called Hansen's bet of 12,000.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Hansen verbalised all in out of turn. Hall then said, "Ok, I'll check." Hansen then said, "I'm still all in." Which was for about 70,000. Hall went into the tank with 51,000 remaining, saying out loud, "How do I fold this?" After deliberating for a couple of minutes, Hall folded, showing his opponent {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Hansen then tabled his hand which was pocket sevens for a rivered set and began to collect his chips.

Big Double for Brown

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

On the three-way flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}, Chad J Brown moved all in for 66,500 and Jed Friedman pushed over the top to force out Mike Vanier next to Brown.

Brown tabled {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for the gutshot and flush draw while Friedman had the {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. The {6-Clubs} turn immediately improved Brown to an unbeatable straight while the {8-Hearts} on the river was a mere formality.

Chad Holloway sits at the same table with a stack of around 70,000.

Erlandsson KO's Semin and Arguello

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Mikhail Semin pushed for 22,000 from under the gun and Daniel Erlandsson called on the button before Ryan Arguello called all in for less from the small blind.

Semin: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Arguello: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Erlandsson: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The {A-Spades} in the window was followed by the {K-Diamonds} and the {J-Spades}, and the {9-Diamonds} turn and {6-Spades} river changed nothing to result in yet another double elimination. Manig Loeser headed to the payout desk at the same time after running out of chips on a different table.
