Noam Folds Flush

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Danny Noam was in the big blind, facing off against Anton Bertilsson on the button. The action was on the turn, with {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} on the board. Noam checked, and Bertilsson bet 12,500.

Noam went into deep thought, counting his remaining stack. Then he lifted his cards in the air. He peeked at them one more time, but the action was evident; he was going to fold.

Eventually, Noam picked two of his cards and threw them onto the felt face-up. They were {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a jack-high flush and a redraw to a straight flush.

Noam, however, apparently believed that Bertilsson held a better flush and made a huge laydown.

Negreanu Pays Off Weinman

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

With the action on the {3-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Spades} flop, Daniel Weinman was all in for 30,200. Daniel Negreanu was contemplating whether he should call or fold, and as is typical for him, he was talking everyone through his thought process.

"I've got like two-to-one, okay," was the result. Negreanu called, albeit admitting he hadn't flopped big.

Daniel Weinman: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Negreanu had only middle pair, and the {K-Hearts} on the turn killed all his chances to beat Weinman. The river {A-Spades} brought a full house for Weinman, who skyrocketed to over 100,000 in chips.

Negreanu was left with only 10,000 or so.

400 And Rising

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

There have now been 403 official entries with a few players currently at the late registration desk.

With players allowed to enter for another 90 minutes, the total field could surpass the 418 from 2014, which was the largest in the previous five years.

Negreanu Ousted in a Three-Way All-In; Madsen Soars

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Jeff Madsen limped from the hijack, and his neighbour Daniel Negreanu wanted to make a move with his short stack. Negreanu raised it up to 2,800, finding a customer in the form of small blind Daniel Weinman. The action returned to Madsen, who re-raised pot, bumping it to 15,200. Negranu was happy to hear that, and he slid in his last 9,300. Weinman scanned Madsen's stack and called his three-bet.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades}, and Weinman asked Madsen how much he had behind, which was roughly 10,000. Weinman moved all in, and Madsen called off for his last 9,500. With no further action to come, all three hands were turned up.

Daniel Negreanu: {J-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Jeff Madsen: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Daniel Weinman: {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Negreanu was in bad shape, blocking his own gutshot straight draw and trailing with pocket jacks. Madsen had double-suited aces, but Weinman's hand had solid equity to provide a double knockout as he rolled over a wrap and bottom pair.

The {3-Hearts} turn and the {2-Spades} river, however, changed nothing, leaving Madsen out front. He took all of Negreanu's chips and scored a full double through Weinman on top of that.

Negreanu and Madsen pumped fists before the Canadian superstar left the tournament area. Madsen is now back over a starting stack.

George Folds to Gorodinsky

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Mike Gorodinsky was on the button, betting out 8,000 to the pot on the turn with the {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} on the board. Chris George, sitting in a middle position, called.

The river was the {6-Diamonds} and George checked to Gorodinsky again. Gorodinsky pulled out 25,000 this time.

George considered calling for about a minute, leaning towards the middle. He looked Gorodinsky in the eye, and then double checked his hole cards. But George still couldn't talk himself to making the call, folding.

"You made a straight?" Gorodinsky analysed after the hand.

"I had a bad straight," George confirmed.

"I had at least three jacks," smiled Gorodinsky, adding: "Good runout."

Roberto Romanello Rising

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Facing off against one opponent, Roberto Romanello bet 17,500 on the turn of a board reading {8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. The board looked pretty coordinated, and Romanello had a lot of chips. His opponent didn’t like it much and folded his hand.

Romanello has been stepping up the pace recently, and his stack has been growing as a result.
