Taylor Gets Paid by Calderaro, Closing in on Chip Lead

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor

With the board reading {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and around 200,000 in the pot, James Calderaro checked from the small blind, and Esther Taylor bet 125,000. Calderaro thought it over for a while and called. He said he had a full house, and Taylor announced, "Kings full," before tabling {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for the runner-runner boat. Calderaro expressed displeasure at being beaten by a girl.

Taylor, who has seven cashes at this Series and just took fourth in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha Mix yesterday, is closing in on the chip lead in this one after late-registering today.

Karakitukov Doubles to Over a Million

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Veselin Karakitukov and Daniel Reijmer have been sitting at the same table since the start of the day, and they were bound to play a big pot with each other.

That moment finally came when the flop was {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} with nearly 100,000 already in the pot. Reijmer checked from the big blind, and Karakitukov bet 52,000 from middle position. Reijmer check-raised to 250,000, which led to Karakitukov shoving all in for 471,000. Reijmer quickly called, and the cards were face-up.

Karakitukov: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Reijmer: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The turn was the {j-Diamonds}, giving Karakitukov a bigger two pair, and the river was the {3-Hearts}, which improved his hand to a flush.

Hu Doubles Through Hernandez, Hernandez Eliminated Next Hand

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Konstantin Bucherl opened to 23,000 in the cutoff, and Peter Hernandez called on the button. Tom Hu potted to 100,000 in the small blind, Bucherl tank-folded, and Hernandez called.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Hu moved all in. Hernandez quickly called and had Hu covered by 19,000 chips.

Hu: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Hernandez: {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Hernandez was ahead with top pair and a wrap, but the {A-Hearts} turn gave Hu a pair of aces. The {4-Hearts} river didn't help Hernandez, and Hu doubled up.

In the next hand, Hernandez went all in for his last 19,000 and was called by Aaron Katz, in the small blind, and Jason Gray, in the big blind. The flop came {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and Katz and Gray checked. On the {10-Diamonds} turn, Katz bet 50,000, and Gray got out of the way.

Hernandez: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Katz: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The river was the {4-Clubs}, and Katz won with two pair, tens and nines. Hernandez was eliminated.

Jason Gray Takes from Peter Hernandez

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Jason Gray raised to 22,000 in early position and got called by Peter Hernandez in the small blind and Tom Hu in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and Hernandez led out for 36,000. Hu folded, and Gray called. On the {2-Clubs} turn, Hernandez checked, and Gray potted for 138,000 with 113,000 behind. After a long pause, Hernandez called, and they both checked the {2-Diamonds} river.

Hernandez announced, "Ace-high," and Gray tabled {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for two pair, tens and deuces, to win the pot.

Noah Schwartz Eliminated by Esther Taylor

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Noah Schwartz raised preflop from under-the-gun and was called by Ognjen Sekularac in the cutoff, Esther Taylor in the small blind, and the big blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and the action was checked to Schwartz, who bet 40,000. Sekularac called, and Taylor raised the pot to 232,000. Schwarts stuck in his remaining 212,000, and Sekularac folded.

Taylor showed {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-}{7-}, and Schwartz tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and Taylor put a lock on the hand with a full house. The insignificant {9-Spades} fell on the river, and Taylor raked in another pot.

Schwartz took off through the doors, still steaming from someone hitting a one-outer on him earlier in the day.

Dan Smith Cracks Romanello's and Rast's Aces

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

In what turned out to be a flurry of action preflop, Dan Smith, Roberto Romanello, and Brian Rast were all in, with Smith having the largest stack. Romanello and Rast both had pocket aces, and Smith tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Smith took a commanding lead in the hand. The turn was the {3-Clubs}, which sealed the deal for Smith, and the {q-Spades} completed the board.

Rast started the hand with around 200,000, and Romanello had roughly 300,000. The dealer pushed all of the chips toward Smith, and he continued to stack them for next two hands.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds}, and Allan Le led out for a pot-sized bet of 230,000. Palevic threw his remaining 105,000 into the pot, and the button folded.
