Michael Gentili

With the pot already up to over 65,000 and the board completed with {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, action was on Michael Gentili. Gentili shoved his last 35,200 in the middle and Anh Van Nguyen took a long time to gloss over his options.

The clock got called on Van Nguyen. With ten seconds remaining, he decided to make the call. Gentili instantly flipped open {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} for kings full, rendering Van Nguyen's {J-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a straight second best.

Antonio Storno was one of the top stacks after Day 1 and just dragged a nice pot to solidify his stack even further. Storno, Steve Hwang and a third player had already built up the pot to over 30,000 when action was on Hwang.

The board was reading {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Hwang bet 15,000. Storno check-raised all in, the third player folded and Hwang folded after much deliberation.

Chance Kornuth

Brett Shaffer was in the hijack and raised to 2,500. Ahmed Nimer was on the button and three-bet to 9,000. Chance Kornuth was in the small blind and took a minute or two before four-betting to 22,000. Shaffer immediately folded and Nimer quickly shoved in his remaining chips which appeared to be around 38,000. Kornuth called immediately and the hands were tabled.

Chance Kornuth: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Ahmed Nimer: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The flop was {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Nimer was looking good. the turn was the {7-Spades} blocking even more of Kornuth's outs but the river was the {q-Hearts} giving Kornuth Broadway and eliminating Nimer.

Kornuth explained after, "It's the show one card game's fault! If he had never shown the four before I wouldn't have thought he was raising light and I would have just folded my hand." The table got a good laugh out of the scenario and Kornuth is still running pure at the start of Day 2.
