Carrel Gets Fully Paid

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

A player in early position had opened the action and Joseph Drory called on the button. Charlie Carrel then three-bet from the big blind and the original raiser folded but Drory called.

The flop was {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Carrel led out for 4,000. Drory raised to 9,000 and Carrel called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Carrel led for 4,000 again. Drory went into the tank for a minute and then called.

The river was the {4-Spades} and after pausing for effect, Carrel moved all in for over 140,000 but effectively covering Drory's remaining 17,800. Drory tanked for a couple of minutes, shuffling chips back and forth and staring down Carrel. Carrel always playful made a few gestures off to the side, seemingly brimming with confidence and eventually Drory called. Carrel tabled {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for top set and Drory showed {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} before shipping all his chips to the charismatic and always colourful, Charlie Carrel.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Craig Blight was in middle position and opened the action to 3,600. Daniel Negreanu defended his big blind.

The flop was {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} and Negreanu check-called Blight's bet of 5,000.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Negreanu checked. Blight fired out a bet of 15,000 and Negreanu quickly moved all in for his remaining 23,700, Blight called.

Daniel Negreanu: {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Craig Blight: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The river was the inconsequential {5-Clubs} as Blight was drawing dead versus Negreanu's straight and "Kid Poker" has now added nicely to his Day 2 starting stack. Will this be the event where Negreanu gets to shave his "Poker Playoff Beard" afterward? Stay tuned to find out!
