Luca Gives to Blais; Busts One After

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With more than 60,000 in the middle, William Blais checked from early position on the turn of {J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Ivan Luca checked behind. The {K-Clubs} fell on the river and Blais checked again. Luca bet 41,000 and Blais check-raised to 116,000 in order to force a fold from the Argentinian.

One hand later, Blais opened to 4,000 and a short stack moved all in for 36,400. Luca checked his cards and eventually tossed in a single chip for the call. It folded back to Blais, and he also quickly let go.

Ivan Luca: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Luca recovered some of the previous losses by sending an opponent to the rail without much of a sweat.

Ted Lawson Eliminated by Matt Hyman

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Following a flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, Ted Lawson was all in for about 62,000 with {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} against Matt Hyman with {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. The {K-Hearts} turn and {10-Clubs} river completed the board, no help to Lawson, ending his tournament and locking up the pot for Hyman.

Weissman Takes Sick Beat

Mag Botros had a bet of 7,500 in front of him in the hijack on a {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop and was facing a check-raise to 29,000 from big blind Joey Weissman. Botros slid in a stack of T5,000 chips that made it 77,500, most of his total chip stack. Weissman wasted little time before moving all in.

"All right," said Botros after about 30 seconds, sliding his remaining 50,000 or so in.

Weissman: {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Botros: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Botros was in awful shape with only one live immediate out, but the {9-Diamonds} brought a backdoor flush possibility. The {a-Diamonds} filled the flush, and Botros shouted in celebration. Weissman barely reacted to the beat, counting out 124,400 and sending it over with a "nice hand."

Luske Keeps Climbing

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

Marcel Luske was down to 12.000 at one point during the day but has found the way up. When Christoph Haller opened to 4.200 in early position, Luske made the call on the button and a player called from the big blind.

The {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop got checked to Luske, who bet 8.000. Only Haller came along with the call. On the {A-Clubs} turn, Haller opted to lead out for 14.000 and Luske quickly called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Haller checked. Luske flung 25.000 to the middle and Haller called after some slight hesitation. Luske showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the rivered straight to win the hand.

"I am the Absolute F***ing Worst!"

Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

Bryce Yockey bet 45,000 on the river with the board reading {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Robert Correa raised all in for 141,600 total.

"I am the absolute f***ing worst," Yockey said, "I could play my hand normally and not lose a huge pot. I don't think I can fold this."

Yockey was standing up and, after about 30 seconds flicked his cards into the muck.

Correa showed pocket kings.

"That's so sick, I had two aces."

Perry Friedman Knocks One Out

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

While we missed the way the hand played out, Perry Friedman was collecting a large pot while holding {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} on a board of {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} against one opponent who was holding {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for just one pair. Friedman's two pair had held up and he took down the big pot and sent one opponent to the rail.

Joris Ruijs Four-Bets From Big Blind

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Joris Ruijs
Joris Ruijs

There was an open from a big stack under the gun for 3,800 and then Quoc Vu on the button three-bet to 8,000. Joris Ruijs was in the big blind and he four-bet to 23,600.

The original raiser had a long think about the situation he was in, particularly as the aggressive Vu was still to act behind him. A minute or so passed and he let his hand go.

Vu called and it was heads up to a flop {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

Ruijs led out for the modest amount of 14,000 and Vu called.

Both players checked the {j-Spades} turn and the {10-Spades} river.

It was Ruijs who had to show first. He turned over his {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

“Straight,” said the dealer of the runner-runner result for Ruijs. Vu’s face went through a number of emotions, none of them happy as he picked up his cards, looked as though he was about to show them, then threw them face down in the felt in disgust.

“I’m the worst.” Ruijs chuckled to himself as he stacked the pot.
