Camphausen Busts to Carlile

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Marc Camphausen
Marc Camphausen

A total of 82 players returned from the dinner break, and this has been whittled down to 60 over the last two levels. One of the more recent casualties is Germany's Marc Camphauesen, who fell at the hands of a resurgent Simon Carlile, who was kind enough to give us all the gory details after the fact.

Down to his last 30,000, Camphausen moved all-in pre-flop with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} from under-the-gun and Carlile woke up one seat over with pocket jacks. There was no ace to be seen on the runout and Camphausen is now out of the running, while Carlile stacked up to 95,000.

Obst Pushes Off Fung, Then Chops With Lin

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst is keeping his tournament alive over on the feature table, defending his big blind with {k-Spades}{10-Hearts} against a 5,000 cutoff raise from Hedley Fung, who was holding {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Both players checked the {8-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop before Obst took a stab at the pot on the {q-Diamonds} turn to win the hand as Fung mucked.

A couple of hands later Obst moved all-in from the button over the top of an early position Hau Lin raise of 5,900, with the latter making a quick call.

James Obst: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Hau Lin: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

This resulted in an anticlimactic chop with both players holding ace-king and the runout coming {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Obst is sitting on a stack of 35,000 while Lin has close to the same with a stack of 32,600.

Carlile Doubles

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

A short-stacked Simon Carlile earned a double up at the expense of a tablemate, getting the last of his chips in pre-flop with {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and was looked up by a player holding {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

The {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs} runout saw Carlile double to 45,000 and while this is still below average it takes the sting out of getting his pocket kings cracked by Zhi Ma an orbit or so earlier; Ma had open-shoved for around 46,000 with ace-five with the {a-Diamonds} and run out four to a flush to leave Carlile short.

Obst Wins From Fung

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst made it 12,000 pre-flop from early position and Hedley Fung defended from the big blind over on the feature table.

The flop came down {j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and after Fung checked the action over to Obst, the latter took the pot down with a continuation bet to climb to 63,700, while Fung dropped to 39,700.

Salter Takes From Kain

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Action folded around to Brad Kain on the button and he made it 3,500 to go. Small blind Adrian Salter re-raised to 9,000 and after some deliberation, Kain pushed out a sizable stack of yellow 5k chips to put Salter all in and the latter made the call for his tournament life.

Adrian Salter: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Brad Kain: {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Salter hit top set on the {9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop and stayed in front the whole way on the {5-Diamonds} turn and {3-Spades} river to chip up to 117,000. Kain still has a playable 110,000 and managed to spike a set of queens himself an orbit later to win a pot vs an opponent's king-queen offsuit when the case queen came down. That saw Kain claim some of his earlier losses back and climb to 121,000.

Swords Cuts Down Kim's Stack

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Chester Swords opened the action with a raise to 3,400 from middle position with Edward Kim the only caller to take the action heads-up to a flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Swords fired out a 3,500 continuation bet and Kim made the call to keep the pair in action to the {7-Clubs} turn, which saw another barrel fired from Swords, this time for 12,000, with Kim making the call once more.

The {a-Clubs} river completed a possible backdoor club flush and Swords reached for chips once more, only this time his bet was a big one, leading out for 32,000.

Kim tanked for a good couple of minutes before electing to make the call, but could only pitch his cards into the muck when Swords rolled over {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

"I think I made a mistake there," said Kim to Swords as the pot was shipped the latter's way, but Kim still has a very playable 77,000, which is close to the average at present. Swords stacked up to 150,000 after the hand.
