Queens Up Good for the Professor

Stud:

Lederer: (X) (X) {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {Q-Spades} (X)

Farnood: (X) (X) {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} (X)

Donev: (X) (X) {5-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

Ivo Donev brought it in, Howard Lederer completed, Sherkhan Farnood called, and Donev called as well. On fourth street Lederer led out with the high board, Farnood raised, Donev folded, and Lederer called. Fifth and sixth streets brought bets from Lederer and calls from Farnood, with both players checking seventh.

Lederer showed two pair, queens and jacks, and Farnood mucked.

Farnood is down to 165,000, while Lederer has passed 450,000.

Made to Sweat

Stud:

A big hand developed between Sherkhan Farnood and Jeff Duvall, the latter calling down bets on every street except the final one, where he led out for 16,000. Farnood called.

Farnood = {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Duvall = {3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

Although Duvall's {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} looked good, Farnood made his man sweat as he stared at his cards for what seemed like an age. After he'd confirmed he was indeed beaten, Farnood tapped the table in appreciation and threw his cards into the muck.

Crucial pot for Duvall, who jumps up to 230,000.

Farnood: (X) (X) {6-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {4-Spades} {K-Clubs} (X)

Donev: (X) (X) {J-Clubs} {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} (X)

Sherkhan Farnood had the bring-in and Ivo Donev called. On both fourth and fifth streets, Donev led out with the high board and Farnood called. Sixth street brought a check from Donev, a bet from Farnood, and a call from Donev. Both players checked seventh street.

Farnood had two queens in the hole, but Donev made a flush to win the pot.

Duvall Can't Call

Omaha 8:

Ivo Donev limped in from the small blind and Jeff Duvall checked his option. The flop was {9-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {3-Spades}. Donev bet and Duvall called. The turn fell the {9-Hearts}, Donev betting out again and Duvall calling. The river was the {10-Hearts}. Donev led out a third time and Duvall gave up his hand.

After the hand, Duvall was left with 97,000.

Chop It Up

Omaha 8:

Howard Lederer raised it up to 16,000 from UTG, Ivo Donev made it 24,000 from the small blind and Lederer called.

On the {J-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, Donev bet 8,000 and Lederer called. Two more bets followed, 16,000 on both the {8-Clubs} turn and {3-Hearts} river, with Lederer calling both of them down.

In the end, it was a split pot, Lederer taking the high with {6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and a pair of jacks, and Donev the low with {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for A-2-3-7-8.

Duvall Catches Donev

Hold'em:

On the last hand before the dinner break, Ivo Donev raised to 12,000 from the button, Jeff Duvall made the call from the small blind, and the two players saw a {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. Duvall checked, Donev bet 6,000, and Duvall called. Both players checked the {9-Diamonds} turn before Duvall check-called 12,000 on the {9-Spades} river. After a moment's hesitation, Donev was asked to show his {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, whilst Duvall proudly revealed {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} to lap up the pot.
