Kravchenko Moscow Home

Alex Kravchenko - bubble
Alex Kravchenko - bubble
"We have an all-in!" exclaimed Joe Beevers as he alerted the rest of the room.

Alex Kravchenko = {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Ilkka Koskinen = {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Flop = {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

"Flush draw," observed another player, not exactly easing the tension on Kravchenko.

Turn = {7-Hearts}

The Russian held his breath...

River = {8-Clubs}

"Sick," concluded various players in unison.

Pop goes the bubble.

Deeb, Out

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb has just been eliminated from the tournament by Eric Dalby.

Dalby opened the pot with a raise to 12,000 from the CO+1. Action then folded around to Deeb in the big blind who reraised to 38,000.

"How much more does he have?" asked Dalby.

"45,500," replied Deeb.

Dalby then raised enough to put Deeb all in, and Shaun turned his cards over even before pushing the rest of his chips into the middle: {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {K-Clubs}. Dalby tabled the {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Spades}.

Deeb's "Good game" comment after the {2-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} flop was perhaps a testament to his luck today. It was as if he felt he had no chance, despite the fact that he'd flopped top set.

Unfortunately for Deeb, the one time he'd wished his intuition was wrong, it was dead on, as the turn and river filled out {4-Hearts}, {10-Diamonds}, giving Dalby a queen-high flush.

After the hand, Dalby stacked up almost 300,000 in chips and now finds himself second only to Jason Mercier atop the overall leaderboard.

Deja-Vu

With Allen Cunningham limping from the small blind and Neil Channing checking his option, the two remaining players proceeded to see an {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop. Cunningham came out firing, to the tune of 8,000, which triggered Channing to comment, "Didn't you do that last time? It was cheaper then, I'm getting deja-vu."

After Channing made it 23,000, Cunningham shook his head and mucked his cards, mumbling, "I wish I'd check-called now." In the process Channing soothed his opponent's frustration by showing a card, the {A-Hearts}. "I had one of them," Cunningham added.

It Just Wasn't His O'Dea

The Don is done
The Don is done
Allen Cunningham raised from the button, only for Donnacha O'Dea to push from the big bind for 17,500 more. Cunningham didn't look mustard keen, but felt committed to the pot and made the call.

With {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} versus {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}, the Irishman was in cracking shape, and even more so when the flop and turn came {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, but a {9-Hearts} on the river dealt a crushing blow, and the Don was gone in 21st.

Define "Roller Coaster Ride"

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier
As far as poker goes, Shaun Deeb's last 20 minutes does just that...

Shortly after eliminating Mike McDonald from the tournament, Deeb doubled up Max Pescatori and then found himself butting heads with chip leader Jason Mercier in the following hand:

Deeb opened with a preflop raise to 9,000 from the cutoff and both Mercier (button) and Pescatori (small blind) called.

The flop came {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} and all three players checked. The dealer then burned and turned the {4-Clubs} and the action was checked to Deeb who fired a 15,000 bet. Mercier then kicked it up to 65,000, Max folded and Deeb made the call.

The {Q-Clubs} fell on the river and Deeb passed to Mercier who fired a monster 115,000 bet. Deeb made the call and Mercier announced, "Nuts," as he turned over {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} [{4-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}], good for the nut Broadway straight.

Deeb mucked, but was later overheard telling friends on the rail that he had two pair (tens and fours), with a pair of aces.

The hand kicked Mercier up to 680,000 in chips and Deeb was left with about 88,000.

Shortly after the hand, Pescatori remarked, "I haven't looked at the average, but I think he's above," referring to Mercier's now-gargantuan chip stack.

Stephen Ladowsky Eliminated by Sorel Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi limped in from UTG, Chis Bjorin limped in on the button, Tomi Nyback completed the small blind and Stephen Ladowsky checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {3-Spades}. Mizzi led out for 6,000, Bjorin and Nyback folded and Ladowsky called. The turn came the {K-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {5-Hearts}. Ladowsky counted out his remaining 23,000 in chips before checking. Mizzi made a pot-sized bet of 24,000, setting Ladowsky all in.

Ladowsky went into the tank, standing up from his chair and digging his hands into the pockets of his white Adidas jacket.

"Sorry guys" he said, as he mulled over his decision. Several minutes later, he finally called.

Mizzi tabled {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} for kings full and Ladowsky mucked dejectedly as he headed to the rail.

Mizzi is now on 215,000. Down to 21.

"Could I Have That Book?"

The banter has really flourished on the far table, with the conversation resting temporarily on last night's H.O.R.S.E champion Sherkhan Farnood. Joe Beevers was regaling his opponents with a tale of how Farnood had once brought a poker book to a big cash game, and later looked down the hand rankings before winning a monstrous £12,000 pot.

But before Beevers was able to complete his "and look at him now" story, he was reraising Donnacha O'Dea's initial raise of 7,000. "I have a rererereraising hand," claimed Joe.

"Could I have that book?" asked Donnacha with a smirk before pushing in his remaining chips.

Beevers = {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}
O'Dea = {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

"Just chop it up," joked Beevers as the dealer almost obliged. But ultimately the {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} board did indeed deal out a split pot, with Donnacha retrieving his chips and remaining a short stack with around 35,000.

Deeb Killing Time...

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb
"Timex," that is. One hand after Mike McDonald won his biggest pot of the tournament, Shaun Deeb recaptured his lost chips and then some with the elimination of his young counterpart.

Deeb opened the pot with another preflop raise and upon seeing this, McDonald remarked, "How many chips do I want to win this hand?" McDonald made the call and saw the flop come {2-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Clubs}.

Deeb then made a continuation bet of about 13,000, according to his estimations, and McDonald responded by raising the pot. Holding {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {6-Spades}, Deeb responded with a raise of his own, unknowingly putting McDonald to a decision for the rest of his chips.

McDonald made the call and turned over {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. Needing a club, a queen, an ace or a ten to stay alive, McDonald watched as the board blanked out {8-Spades}, {9-Hearts}, clinching the pot for Deeb.

Rough math would indicate that Shaun should have just over 300,000 in chips at the moment, but we'll get a better count after he finishes stacking the chips.
