, very reasonably raised. Daniel Tafur reraised all in for 17,100 total and Monnette very reasonably called. Delighted to discover that he was way ahead of Tafur's {Q-Spades}

, Monnette was rather less delighted to see the board come out {Q-Clubs}

to double Tafur up.

Adam Junglen Eliminated

A good six minutes into the dinner break, one hand was still being played out with Adam Junglen all in for around 20,000 on a {3-Spades}

board. The player on the receiving end was Talal Shakerchi, whose dwell made Rodin's "The Thinker" look decisive.

However, Shakerchi did indeed make the call, but found his {J-Diamonds}

in need of divine assistance against Junglen's superior {A-Clubs}

. Although ahead, Junglen was unable to avoid defeat, the {8-Spades}

on the river presenting Shakerchi with the flush, and Junglen with the rail.

Clubbed to Death

With the board reading {Q-Diamonds}

, Scott Montgomery led out for 10,000, Jean Thorel made it 30,000 and Montgomery flat-called. On the {9-Clubs}

turn, Montgomery checked, Thorel announced, "All in," and Montgomery made the call.

With a gargantuan pot hovering around the 200,000 mark, we had a showdown, and one that inevitably garnered the interest of both press and rail alike.

Whilst Thorel tabled {A-Clubs}

for a pair and a flush draw, he was going to need to dunk himself in a vat of Vaseline to squirm his way out of this one as Montgomery revealed {Q-Spades}

for the flopped set.

But squirm he did, the crowd-gasping {3-Clubs}

on the river awarding him an absolute monster of a pot and prying a unified gasp of horror from the onlooking rail.

As a deflated Montgomery slumped his head in devastation, Thorel simply couldn't hide his emotions. Not since my mother met my first girlfriend have I witnessed such relief, the Frenchman raising his arms in victory and quite literally wiping the sweat from his brow.

As a result, Thorel is now chasing the chip lead with 225,000, whilst Montgomery has plummeted back down to 30,000.

Erica Schoenberg is the last remaining woman in the face-to-face room here at the Empire, and it doesn't look like the Full Tilt Pro is going anywhere just yet. She's just knocked out the multiple EPT finalist Johannes Strassmann after the latter moved in over the top of her bet on a {8-?}

but Schoenberg called with {J-?}

which held, boosting her stack into the 70,000 chip zone.

Max Steinberg Dodges Bullets

Under the gun, Ted Lawson made it 2,500 to go preflop. All the way around to button Max Steinberg, who makes it 9,200. The blinds bow out graciously, but Lawson puts in a third raise -- 24,500 becomes the price of the flop. About 65,000 was in Lawson's stack, and over 100,000 in Steinberg's, so this could have been a huge preflop gamble -- instead, Steinberg just flat-called.

. Lawson's remaining chips were over the line immediately, and Steinberg eventually gave it up reluctantly, although he said, "Thank you," when Lawson opted to show him his {A-Diamonds}
