Howard Lederer and Vitaly Lunkin just clashed in a recent hand that left Howard stacking chips and Vitaly left with just 10,000 worth of them.
(Omaha)
We caught up with the hand just as the players' hole cards were revealed. The board read and the following hands were tabled:
Lederer:
Lunkin:
Lunkin had a set when the money went in, but Lederer made a straight on the turn after the fell and the river delivered an inconsequential cementing the hand for "The Professor."
I arrived at the table to see a flop on the table and Nikolay Evdakov betting out 9,200 from the big blind. Brian Johnson, who had raised preflop from the cutoff, laughed, took delivery of a cup of tea from a waitress, and then folded. He's down to 19,000.
Harri Suni and Vitaly Lunkin reach the turn of a board, where the former led for 3,500. Suni, however, made a deep reach and slid in a tall stack of claret 500 chips totalling 10,000, which was enough take the pot.
Bracelet winner Lunkin is now struggling with just over 35,000.
Howard Lederer raised to 6,000 in early position, and when Chris Bjorin reraised a whole stack of orange 1,000-denomination chips out of the small blind, a crowd of railers appeared from nowhere, hoping to see some all-in Lederer action. lEderer folded, though, and the railers dispersed.
Brian Johnson limped in the hijack, only for Tristan Clémençon to raise to 8,500 from the cutoff. Over to Richard Gryko in the small blind -- who reraised to 29,500, leaving himself just 19,000 back, clearly meaning business.
Johnson made a little "wow" type of exhalation before passing, and then back to Clémençon. He spent a few minutes giving Gryko a death stare -- but eventually folded. letting Gryko take the pot.
Former chip monster Clémençon thus takes another hit.
