Flying Finn

It wasn't too much of a mission finding the current chip leader: he was the one submerged in chips. Yes, Jani 'KObyTAPOUT' Vilmunen - a Finnish pro who plays high stakes online and is friends with fellow countryman Patrik Antonius - is daddy big balls with a gargantuan 210,000.

Lederer Doubles Through

Shaun Deeb raised to 2,300 from UTG and received two callers: Howard Lederer in mid to late position, and Dave Callaghan on the button.

Although Deeb was the initial aggressor, he was just a witness to the post-flop fireworks. On the {2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, there was a bet of 8,000 and a call (Callaghan the aggressor, I believe).

The {A-Hearts} turn triggered a bet of 20,000 from Lederer, a raise from Callaghan and an all-in call from Lederer.

On their backs:

Lederer = {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Callaghan = {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}

River = {A-Spades}

Lederer doubles up.

No More Thorson

William Thorson, having been recently moved to table Durrrr, just lost the remainder of his stack to him. All I know is it was all in on the flop, in the closing seconds of the last level...

Players are now on a 20 minute break.

Welshman Takes a Hit

I caught the end of a {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} board, Yuval Bronshtein leading out for what looked like 10,000 on the river. Romanello thought for a while, before sliding in the call aggressively. But it wasn't good: Bronshtein showed {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for the flush, and all Romanello coudl do was shake his head in frustration.

Romanello -- 25,000
Bronshtein -- 53,000

Devilfish Busto

The final 13k or so belonging to the Devilfish was last seen being piled on top of Jeff Kimber's plump stack, and I saw a trace of a full house of some sort being whisked into the muck as Kimber's winning hand was shuffled back in.

I leave you with one of his just-pre-bust jokes he told to the lovely massage ladies: "What has 100 legs and no teeth?"
"The front row of a Cliff Richard concert."

What will they do for entertainment without him?

Shallow Draw Cripples Dubai

Dave Shallow is busto - having returned from the dinner break with a 20k stack which was far from his 90k mid third level. One hand only was responsible for his chip drop and subsequent exit - a set vs. set against Dave Callaghan.

Callaghan had check-called a {K-?} {8-?} {5-?} two-spade flop, then check-raised what amounted to all-in on the {2-Diamonds} turn with a set of Fives. Dubai held a set of Eights, but once the 130k pot was scooped into the middle, it went Callaghan-wards after another five came on the river.

I overheard Snoopy say to him, "Well, does it make you feel better that your chips are with a good player?" "No, not really."

Dwanned by the River

Having called a raise of 2,800 preflop, Dwan called a continuation bet of 4,500 on the {J-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades} flop before checking the {K-Diamonds} turn. On the {A-Diamonds} river, his opponent made a alluring bet of 2,500, which had Dwan looking up at the heavens as he appeared to shuffle between all three options. In the end, he opted for a call, but was duly shown {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the straight.

Dwan takes a minor hit, and is back down 37,000.
