Hindin-berg Crashing

Dan Hindin seems to have met his nemesis in Roberto Romanello -- the latter has just now doubled through the former for a second time, leaving Hindin rather short.

Romanello raised his small blind, and Hindin called in the big. They saw a flop.

Flop: {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}

Romanello check-called 20,000 from Hindin. Onwards.

Turn: {A-Spades}

Romanello checked again, adn this time Hindin bet 40,000. Back to Romanello -- and he moved in for 80,000 total.

"Wow, how much is that?" asked Hindin, suddenly confused. "Do you have king-nine of clubs?" Romanello feigned surprise. "There are three clubs on the board?" It almost fooled us. Not quite, but almost. Hindin was told the relevant number. "So, I'd be calling 40,000 to win 140,000..."

He called.

Romanello: not quite the straight flush, but the made flush with a redraw to the straight flush
Hindin: {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} for two pair

River: {3-Spades}

Romanello is now firmly back in contention on around 180,000, while Hindin drops right down to less than 90,000.

Naujoks Not Giving Up

Sandra Naujoks is rallying -- she's up to over 100,000 after two small pots went her way.

First she found herself in position in a blind-on-blind confrontation with Chris Bjorin. They made it as far as the turn of the {7-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} board before Naujoks picked it up with a pot-sized bet.

Next hand, she raised her small blind and got a call from big blind Roberto Romanello -- but firing out on the {8-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} flop solved that problem. Romanello folded, and the pot was Naujoks'.

Vilmunen Bashes Ashman - Griffin out 12th (£14,900)

So close to the final table, and big pots are still occurring with a remarkable frequency. Jani Vilmunen and opponent (no longer) Ashton Griffin in particular were in a lot of pots, making Table Two the place to congregate for continual contests.

Just now Vilmunen raised to 14k and button Griffin potted it (a hefty 49,500 total). Back to Vilmunen, who made the call after a brief dwell and a suspension of his massage.

Flop: {10-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {9-Spades} . It took only a matter of seconds for Vilmunen to check, Griffin to bet the pot, and Vilmunen to announce, "All in." Call immediately.

Griffin showed {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} for Aces with the nut flush draw, while Vilmunen had flopped top set with his hand: {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} . The turn and river were the {K-Spades} {J-Spades} , meaning that abruptly, one of the contenders for the chip lead during today has busted, giving it firmly back to Vilmunen.

Hindin-berg Disaster

Short-stacked Roberto Romanello got his last in on a {4-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {6-Diamonds} flop, called by Mr. Dan Hindin.

Hindin: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} for jacks and a flush draw
Romanello: {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts} for a set of sixes

Turn: {9-Clubs}

River: {9-Spades}

Romanello doubled to 130,000 while Hindin dropped to 220,000. Romanello raised Hindin's blind the next hand, too, and then took it down with a bet on the {9-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {K-Clubs} flop. Cheeky.

Karl Mahrenholz Exits in 13th Place (£12,713)

With a stack of around 100k, Karl Mahrenholz could only afford one big pot, and it played out against even shorter-stacked Ross Boatman. Boatman made it 15k to go preflop, and Mahrenholz called on the button.

The flop: {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} . Out fired Boatman - 32,500, with 54k left behind. Mahrenholz thought for a long time, before eventually making the call.

The turn: {A-Diamonds} As he may have anticipated, Boatman's stack crossed the line straight away. While he only dipped a toe in the tank on the flop, he now went for full body immersion. Looking pained, he counted out the call, and finally made it.

He turned over {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts} behind Boatman's {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. It stayed that way on the {2-Spades} river, and that dropped him to under 20k.

The very next hand, he got it in preflop (barely) raising Sandra Naujoks' raise to 17k. She called with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} and his {Q-Spades} {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} went nowhere on the {6-Hearts} {2-Spades} {6-Clubs} {J-Spades} {5-Diamonds} board.

Griffin Takes a Chunk Out of Kiveilo

Ashton Griffin was the player chosen to make the move from Table 1 to Table 2, and one of the first things he did was raise his button. Big blind and chip leader Aarno Kiveilo made the call.

They saw a {K-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {4-Spades} flop, which they both checked, and when Kiveilo checked the {J-Clubs} turn too, Griffin bet 22,500. Call.

Come the {3-Diamonds} river, Kiveilo checked a third time, and this time Griffin bet 47,000. A brief pause ensued, during which not the merest hint of any kind of expression crossed Kiveilo's face. Then he folded.

Dwan Busto in 15th (£12,713) - Does He Look Bothered?

As expected, Tom Dwan's 15,500 didn't last too long out of the middle, and within two hands he'd gone for double-or-bust with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} , looked up by the big blind's {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts} .

The flop brought a club draw:{2-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} , which missed the turn ({2-Spades} ) but came in on the river - {5-Clubs} . Dwan didn't look too cut up about it, and in fact had just been in the process of wangling some kind of side bet with Ashton Griffin (presumably about the likelihood of him making the final, or coming back to win it from half a grain of rice). I think the phrase, "You just get a free £4k," came from him as he prepared to drift railwards.
