Earlier we speculated on a possible clash between Tristan Wade and Rifat Palevic, but things turned out a bit differently. Roberto Romanello entered the tournament after his recent bust out from the €10,000 Mix Max. Coverage of that can be found here.
Romanello explained how he called down Palevic who kept firing on a board. His 'ragged ace' was the best hand, and Palevic was left behind short.
A few hands later Romanello picked up aces, and busted the Swede who had . The money went in on the flop when Palevic had flopped a flush draw on . Romanello is off to a great start and has more than twice the starting stack.

Antonio Esfandiari, who captured his third WSOP bracelet in Event #2: €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em a couple of days ago, won't be getting #4 in this event.
We didn't see the hand unfold, but we do know Esfandiari was eliminated after getting it in with the nut-flush draw against Daniel Negreanu's set of sixes. Esfandiari ended up hitting his flush on the river, but the same card allowed Negreanu to improve to quads!
"Good game guys," Esfandiari said as he collected his things and made an early exit.

Three players saw a flop of and it went check-check to Vanessa Selbst, who bet 250. John Monnette then woke up with a check-raise to 825 from the small blind, David "ODB" Baker folded from the big, and Selbst made the call. When the dealer burned and turned the , Monnette moved all in for 2,300 and Selbst snap-called.

Monnette had turned two pair, but he was well behind Selbst's wheel. Fortunately for Monnette, who has had an impressive WSOP Europe thus far, he spiked the on the river to boat up and double.

The clock says there are 173 players registered for this event so far, but we've also lost a bunch. Among this bunch we see a lot of big name pro's.
Philippe Boucher won this event last year when he beat a field of 336 in order to claim the €166,427 first place prize. But we already know there will be a new champion.
Besides Boucher there were plenty of other familiar faves to have busted. Jussi Nevanlinna, who came off a fifth place finish in the €5,300 Pot-Limit Omaha, is gone just as 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela. Here's a list of who else was already knocked out.

In the last hand of Level 1, action folded around to 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel in the cutoff and he raised to 100. Mazlum Acar defended from the big and both players checked the flop as well as the turn. When the peeled off on the river, Acar checked and Duhamel tossed out a single black T100 chip. It was enough to get the job done as Acar sent his cards to the muck.
Despite that win, Duhamel is still in rough shape and down to just 1,000.
