Avramidis Chips Up Following Romeo Misread

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Makarios Avramidis
Makarios Avramidis

Leonardo Romeo raised to 4,200 from the hijack and Makarios Avramidis three-bet to 13,300 from the big blind. Romeo called and the flop came {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Avramidis bet 12,000 and Romeo flat-called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {k-Hearts} and again both players checked.

Avramidis turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}. There was a pause before Romeo, with a certain confidence in his action, slammed {q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} face up on the table.

There was a moment's pause and expressions of shock on the faces of his tablemates, before Romeo realised that the pocket Queens he thought he had were nothing more than Queen-high, and Avramidis took down the pot.

Koleno Chips Up

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Despite being down since the break, Stanislav Koleno bet 4,500 when Volodymyr Khakhula checked to him on a {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board. Khakhula called and the river was the {10-Diamonds}.

It was checked once more to Koleno who bet 9,700 and his opponent called. Koleno showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a pair of nines and that was good enough to take down the pot.

Break

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

58 players are going on a break from a starting field of 318. When they return the blinds will be 1,000/2,000 with a 300 ante. Only 48 places will be paid today so there are just ten eliminations separating players and a min-cash.

Israelashvili and Bellal Chop it Up

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

There was an audible "ooo" from Roland Israelashvili and Amine Bellal's table. There was a three-way all in with the aforementioned pair both holding Ace-King against a third player's pocket sevens.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and there was no help for the all-in player on the {9-Clubs} turn or the {j-Spades} river and he was eliminated.

"Blind on blind," said Israelashvili, pointing to Bellal, "Who said you can't chop it up in a tournament?"

Moreci Doubles Through Van der Heiden

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On a {6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades} board Tim van der Heiden had checked to Gaetano Moreci who moved all in for 22,800.

"Do you play Ace-Jack like this?" asked Van der Heiden before calling.

Moreci turned over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Van der Heiden slammed the table with his fist as he turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

"Come on King or Eight," he said, but the river was the {6-Diamonds} and Moreci doubled up.
