Kabrhel Puts the Hippo at Risk

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

After arriving at the table with over 100,000 in the pot already, the board read {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and the action was on Andras Matrai in the hijack. He was heads-up with Martin Kabrhel in the cutoff and made a bet of 72,000. Kabrhel, seated directly to Matrai's left, swung his head to the right to stare at his opponent.

Matrai gave nothing up as he sat still like a statue. Kabrhel re-counted his chips and pushed them all into the middle for a total of 217,000. Even his chip protector, the lucky hippo, was in the middle and Matrai quickly folded as Kabrhel scooped the chips back to his stack.

Zijthof Pushes on Berube

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Rene Berube opened to 13,000 from under the gun and Maria Zijthof three-bet to 31,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Berube called to see the flop of {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Berube checked and Zijthof continued for 36,000. Berube went for a check-raise to 84,000 and Zijthof sat up in her seat and took her headphones off. She then announced all-in for 177,500, putting the action back on Berube who went into the tank. After thinking for a couple of minutes and the tournament official counting down from 30 seconds, Berube's hand was dead and Zijthof picked up the pot.

Petleshkov and Ho Eliminated

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Within the first level and few minutes into the new level, 35 players were eliminated and among those casualties were Ting Ho and Viliyan Petleshkov. The latter got the remainder of his short stack in with {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Volodymyr Trubanov called in the cutoff with {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}. The board of {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Spades} provided no help for the Bulgarian and he may very likely jump into the next event right away.

Fortkord Sent to the Rail

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Gunther Fortkord
Gunther Fortkord

Viliyan Petleshkov raised from the button and called the three-bet shove of Gergo Kovacs for 79,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Kovacs turned over {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and the board came {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{A-Spades}{4-Diamonds} to see Kovacs double.

Günter Fortkord was less fortunate after running with {A-}{K-} into the {K-Hearts}{k-Spades} of Philipp Lutkemeier. After a board of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, the Austrian was left drawing dead on the turn already.

Two Double Ups

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Florian Fuchs three-bet all in with the {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and initial raiser Miroslav Prosa called with the {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The board came {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Fuchs locked up the double on the turn already.

Itai Wissotzky also got it in with pocket kings, via four-bet shove for 109,000, and he was called by table neighbor Tamas Fricz with {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}. The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Wissotzky doubled.

Van Wesemael Builds Himself a Pot

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After arriving at the table with the flop of {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} already spread on the table, the pot had over 65,000 in the middle. Milan Skacel checked from the cutoff and Sander van Wesemael checked behind him on the button.

The [{j-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and Skacel checked again. Van Wesemael made a bet of 38,000 and Skacel called to see the {2-Clubs} fall on the river. Skacel checked for the third time and van Wesemael fired another 76,000. Skacel tanked for a minute before making the call.

Van Wesemael turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and Skacel mucked his cards. With that pot, it appears van Wesemael has taken over the early chip lead.

Hallaert Nearly Gets There

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

There was a raise to 11,000 from middle position and the hijack called. Kenny Hallaert also called on the button and Oleh Haisiuk pushed all-in for 49,500 from the small blind. The action folded back to Hallaert who made the call.

Haisiuk was well in the lead with {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} against Hallaert's {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Hallaert picked up a flush draw. The {10-Clubs} also gave Hallaert a pair, forcing Haisiuk to hold his breath on the river. The dealer burned and turned the {2-Spades} and Haisiuk dodged everything to double up through Hallaert.
