Gierse Over Muehloecker in Huge Pot

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Thomas Muehloecker, pictured in an earlier event.
Thomas Muehloecker, pictured in an earlier event.

Thomas Muehloecker had what appeared to be a three-bet of 8,500 in front of him in early position. Marius Gierse had made it 22,000 in the cutoff and Muehloecker was considering his options. He eventually decided on a call and they saw a {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop. Muehloecker check-called 22,000. He then checked the {3-Spades}. Gierse pounded down on the felt with a check that shook the table. The river was a {9-Spades} and Muehloecker bet 38,500.

Gierse took off his headphones and thought for about a minute before sliding in all of his chips. That would put Muehloecker to the test for his remaining 26,000 or so. Muehloecker lifted his cards and dropped them in the muck after 30 seconds or so.

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The board read {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and the player in the small blind had checked. Brandon Cantu, in mid-position, bet 4,100 and Marcel Luske, in the hijack, called. The other player folded.

They both checked through the {2-Clubs} on the turn. The river completed the board with the {J-Clubs}, Cantu now bet 7,600 and Luske called again. Cantu showed {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for a pair of jacks on the river and Luske mucked his hand.

MacPhee Bluffed Kitai?

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Viliyan Petleshkov raised to 3,000 from mid-position and was called by Davidi Kitai in the hijack. Kevin MacPhee, sitting on the button, three-bet to 14,000. Action folded back to Petleshkov who folded. Kitai looked at his cards and then decided to call.

The flop came {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, Kitai checked, MacPhee bet 10,500. Kitai needed some time to think and then decided to fold.

"Were you bluffing?" Kitai asked MacPhee.

"I can't tell you that man!" MacPhee replied.

"Say yes!" Jack Salter said to MacPhee.

"Yes!" MacPhee said quickly with a big smile.

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Ryan Riess raised to 2,800 from the button to be re-raised by the player in the small blind to 10,500. The big blind quickly got out of the way. Riess looked at his opponent and called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, the small blind bet 7,000 and Riess called.

The turn brought them the {5-Diamonds}, now the player in the small blind took some time to think and then decided to bet 20,000. Riess stared at his opponent, looked at his cards, counted out his yellow chips worth 5,000 each and then decided to shove. His opponent was now up for a decision. He now looked at his own cards, looked at Riess, counted his own chips out and saw that Riess had him covered. In the end, he decided to fold.

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Bertrand Grosspelier
Bertrand Grosspelier

Rainer Kempe moved all in after tanking a bit on a {5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board. He was in the small blind and shoved for about double the size of the 13,000 pot, putting big blind Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier at risk. Grospellier thought awhile and then called with {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} but he was behind the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} of his German opponent. The river was an {8-Hearts} and Grospellier took his leave.
