Yosifov Leads WSOP Europe Main Event With Final Table in Sight

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Dimitar Yosifov

Just 32 players remain in the 2021 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, all eyeing up the €1,276,712 first-place prize that awaits the winner of this record-breaking event.

The money bubble burst on Day 3, and after the dust settled it was Dimitar Yosifov who emerged as the chip leader with almost six million in chips. He is well clear of Alexander Tkatschew and Guillaume Diaz who appear to be his nearest rivals.

Diaz survived a scare late on, after holding ace-queen against the aces of Cristinel Costin. However, the board gave both players quad sevens and they chopped in sensational fashion.

The remaining players will return at 9 a.m. local time on Tuesday, December 7 to play down to six players or 10 p.m. whichever comes sooner. The final table will then play out on Wednesday, December 8 while being live-streamed on PokerGO.

Day 3 Recap

Despite the tournament returning just 49 players off the money, it took almost three full levels for the bubble to burst. After no fewer than six doubles on the stone bubble — including one for defending champion Alexandros Kolonias — the bubble finally burst with the elimination of Enrico Campanile, guaranteeing the remaining players €16,500.

Alexandros Kolonias
Defending Champion Alexandros Kolonias

Early eliminations in the money included ClubGG Qualifier Robert McAdam (84th - €18,407), Simone Andrian (82nd - €18,407), defending champion Alexandros Kolonias 68th - €20,626) and Dalibor Dula (66th - €20,626).

Meanwhile, several players were growing their seven-figure stacks including Yosifov and Diaz, before a flurry of bracelet-winners left the tournament. Natural8 Ambassador Pete Chen (46th - €27,089), Ole Schemion (44th - €27,089) and Jan-Peter Jachtman (42nd - €27,089) were all eliminated, before the elimination of Davide Suriano in 38th place (€30,816) meant that a new WSOP champion would be crowned in this year's WSOP Europe Main Event.

The remaining 32 players are all guaranteed €35,709. Here are the remaining payouts.

Kenjic Jams At the Wrong Time

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jovan Kenjic
Jovan Kenjic

Axel Hallay raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Johan Guilbert flat-called on the button. Jovan Kenjic then jammed for 970,000 in the small blind and Hallay eventually got it in as well for 930,000, as Guilbert snap-folded.

"Fuck," Kenjic immediately gasped as he exposed the {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and ran right into the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} of Hallay. There was a mandatory sweat until the {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs} turn but the {6-Hearts} river bricked.

One hand later, Kenjic limped the button with just 10,000 behind and then called all-in when Athanasios Kidas raised out of the big blind.

Jovan Kenjic: {k-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Athanasios Kidas: {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} board sent Kenjic to the rail in 33rd place.

On the {q-Spades} river, Diaz took his time before moving all-in as the larger stack. La Francesca instantly went "wow," before going deep into the tank.

A few minutes passed and La Francesca called. Diaz turned over his {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} while La Francesca had {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

Ricci Eliminated in Three-Way All-In

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Andrea Ricci
Andrea Ricci

Andrea Ricci pushed for 380,000 and Johan Guilbert then jammed on the button for 455,000. "I call," Alexander Tkatschew announced from the big blind and he had two players at risk.

Andrea Ricci: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Johan Guilbert: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Alexander Tkatschew: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The door card was the {k-Spades} followed by the {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, and the {5-Diamonds} turn left Ricci drawing dead while Guilbert already had the checkmark. That made the {7-Spades} river redundant as Ricci departed in 41st place.

Ole Schemion

The action folded to the small blind, Narcis Nedelcu who shoved on Ole Schemion who was at the big blind with around 375,000 in total.

Schemion made the call and was at risk but in a good shape.

Ole Schemion: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Narcis Nedelcu: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The flop was {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} with Schemion still in the lead but Nedelcu having picked up more outs. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and Nedelcu made the straight but it wasn't over for Schemion yet, who needed a diamond to stay alive. The river opened the {7-Spades} though and Schemion was eliminated.

Farhredin Mustafov

Fahredin Mustafov raised it up to 45,000 and was called by Stanislav Koleno from one seat over. Silviu Nemes then three-bet to 150,000 and Mustafov pushed for 700,000. Koleno sent his cards into the muck and Nemes called if off with the inferior stack.

Silviu Nemes: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Fahredin Mustafov: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop left Nemes on very thin ice and the {8-Hearts} turn confirmed his elimination, which made the {3-Diamonds} river a formality.
