Peffly Scores Huge Double Up

Level 4 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Alex Peffly
Alex Peffly

With 35,500 in the pot on the turn of 6324, Merab Meladze moved all in from the hijack and covered Alex Peffly's stack of 66,900 who was sat under the gun.

Peffly was shocked by the shove. His eyes nearly popped out of his head like a scene from Tom and Jerry. Peffly took around 90 seconds before making the call.

Alex Peffly: JJ
Merab Meladze: AK

Peffly was ahead but needed to dodge an ace, king, a club to win the hand, a non-club five would have provided a chop pot. The river card was black but it was the 9 to secure the double up for Peffly, which caused Meladze to slam the table in frustration.
