Trips Not Enough for Berand

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Vito Vella raised from under the gun to 16,000 chips and Stanislaw Miadzel called from the button. Ceyhan Berand then jammed in his last 50,000 or so chips in from the big blind.

Vella four-bet all in himself, covering Miadzel's stack. Miadzel pondered for a while before laying his hand down, forcing a showdown between the other two players.

Ceyhan Berand: 54
Vito Vella: AQ

Berand took the lead on J104, and the 4 turn saw him increase that by hitting three of a kind. However, Vella's Broadway draw came in on the K river, and the straight was the last hand Berand would lose to, as it resulted in his elimination from the Main Event.

Andrei Spataru
Andrei Spataru

Heads-up on a board of 5728, Andrei Spataru bet 45,000 from the big blind before Pawel Zawadowicz moved all in from the cutoff. Spataru called for his last 110,000.

Zawadowicz showed A8 for top pair, while Spataru had 109 for flush and straight draws. The K river completely missed Spataru and he was sent to the rail.

Mazza-Boussemart Jams Up His Stack

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The turn showed QQ105 and Giuseppe Mazza-Boussemart moved all-in out of the big blind for 445,000 in a pot that was already larger than that. Ramzi Zuraikat was sent into the tank and he asked whether or not the Frenchman had ace-queen.

Ultimately, Zuraikat folded and Mazza-Boussemart suggested he'd show if Zuraikat did as well. The cards of Zuraikat had already hit the muck when Mazza-Boussemart revealed the KK and the attempt of pulling them out only produced the 6.

One table over, Andrei Spataru faced a bet of 200,000 by Michael Rocco on the 109268 and folded after plenty of consideration.

Thore-Fabian Kunze raised to 16,000 under the gun and Ali Amelipour then moved all in for 90,000 in the hijack. The table folded around to Kunze and he called.

Ali Amelipour: QQ
Thore-Fabian Kunze: 76

Amelipour was far ahead with his queens until the 7K6 flop gave Kunze two pair.

Amelipour flung his arms in the air in frustration and watched as the board ran out 94 to send him to the rail.

"Heartbreaker," tablemate Alex Keating said.

Jonas Hagstrom: JJ
Daniel Rezaei: AA

Hagstrom ran into the pocket aces of Rezaei and could not improve on the 8633Q runout, ending his run at the feature table.

Cintula Hangs On to Aces in Four-Way Pot

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Four players went to a flop of 347 where Andrej Cintula bet 30,000 from under the gun.

Stefan Heizmann called in early position, Samuel Ju called from the small blind, while big blind Alex Peffly also called.

All four players checked the 8 turn before Ju led out for 65,000 on the 10 river.

Peffly quickly folded and Cintula tanked for a minute before calling. Heizmann got out of the way.

Ju showed 75, but Cintula had AA to win the pot.

"What would you do if I raised," Peffly asked him.

"I think I would have to call. What worse can happen to you if you open with aces and get three calls," Cintula replied.

Ketzer Doubles Up

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Felipe Ketzer open-raised from under the gun before being faced with a three-bet to 55,000 from Stefan Heizmann from the button. Michael Gehrmann then jammed all in for 166,000 from the big blind and Ketzer called, putting his own stack of 112,000 at risk.

Heizmann thought about it for a bit but ended up folding, leading to a heads up showdown.

Felipe Ketzer: KK
Michael Gehrmann: QQ

Heizmann slammed the table when the 34A flop fell, indicating that he would have hit his ace. However, he was no longer in the pot, so Ketzer's kings held on the 7A runout.

He doubled up just before his table broke as the field keeps thinning during the first level of Day 3.

Mateos Collects More

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Ermanno Di Nicola opened to 17,000 with AK in early position and was called by Adrian Mateos, holding 55 in the hijack.

Action went heads up to the J92 flop, where Di Nicola led out for 19,000 and Mateos made the call. The 3 turn then saw both both players check to the 3 river.

Another round of checks had Mateos raking in more chips, as his pocket pair held to leave Di Nicola a little shorter.

Queens Are Good For Rosilio

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Hen Rosilio and Renat Bohdanov built a pot of around 300,000 as they went blind versus blind to the turn on a board of 8JJA.

Rosilio then led out for another 75,000 and Bohdanov called. The river came the 8 and Rosilio slowed down and checked.

Bohdanov quickly checked back and Rosilio turned over QQ. Bohdanov shrugged and gave up his hand as Rosilio took down the big pot.
