Salerno Double Leaves Gulas on Fumes

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Elia Salerno
Elia Salerno

Josef Gulas opened to 2,000,000 from under the gun for more than half of his stack. Elia Salerno verified the bet size and then used one time bank before he moved all-in for 2,325,000.

Darius Neagoe folded in the next seat and then walked to his Romanian rail.

Rene Schnitzler glanced at his cards and sighed.

"Now I need your poker brain," Schnitzler told Neagoe, who came a bit closer to the table while Schnitzler picked up his cards and peeled the corners to make them all but visible to Neagoe. The fold followed and Gulas then called Salerno.

Elia Salerno: QQ All in
Josef Gulas: JJ

The board ran out 97497 and the superior pocket pair remained ahead.

"Good fold," Neagoe told Schnitzler who had been narrowly pipped by both.

Schnitzler Has Other Priorities

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Rene Schnitzler asked the table if they can take a quick break so he could go have a cigarette, but his tablemates said it was already getting late in the night and insisted they keep playing.

Schnitzler then raised to 500,000 on the button, Matthias Gude reraised to 2,000,000 in the small blind, and Schnitzler folded.

Darius Neagoe then limped in from the small blind, Schnitzler shoved for 4,000,000, and Neagoe folded. "Fast I can cash you out, or fast so I can go smoke," Schnitzler said.

The next few hands resulted in walks. "I liked you more an hour ago when you raised every hand," Schnitzler said to Neagoe.

"Eight-deuce, jack-three," Neagoe replied.

"What, every hand an hour ago you have ace-king?" Schnitzler added.

Matthias Gude opened to 500,000 from under the gun and once more picked up a single caller in Rene Schnitzler out of the big blind. The flop came J74 and Schnitzler open-shoved for 3,200,000. Gude had a closer look at the stack of his opponent and folded after using one time bank extension.

Gude Keeps Climbing; Gulas Makes the Nuts to Double

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Elia Salerno raised to 500,000 in the cutoff and Matthias Gude called in the big blind.

The flop came A54 and Salerno bet 350,000. Gude then slid forward a stack of chips for a raise, and Salerno didn't even wait to hear the amount before folding.

A few hands later, Josef Gulas raised to 1,225,000 on the button and Salerno shoved from the small blind. Gulas called for 100,000 more.

Josef Gulas: AK All in
Elia Salerno: A8

Gulas had Salerno dominated as the flop came 654, while the J turn gave him the nut flush and a lock on the pot. The river was the 5 and Gulas doubled up.

Gude Jams Into Schnitzler

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Matthias Gude
Matthias Gude

Matthias Gude jammed the button and won the blinds without resistance.

Gude then raised to 500,000 from under the gun for Rene Schnitzler to defend the big blind. On the K42 flop, Schnitzler check-called a bet of 500,000 and went into full zip hoodie mode to the 5 turn.

Another check by Schnitzler saw Gude move all in with the marginally covering stack, and Schnitzler opened the zipper of his hoodie, then instantly exclaimed in German, "Why all in?"

Via table chat, Schnitzler put his table neighbor on pocket aces or ace-king. Two time banks vanished, and Schnitzler folded the K face-up to get shown the K by Gude.

Table Fights Back Against Neagoe

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Darius Neagoe raised to 500,000 in the cutoff before Rene Schnitzler moved all in for 4,000,000 on the button. Neagoe quickly folded.

"It's much easier to go all in. I have no decision on the flop or turn," Schnitzler said.

Neagoe then limped the small blind, Schnitzler shoved again, and Neagoe gave up his hand.

Neagoe opened to 500,000 on the button the next hand, and this time Matthias Gude shoved for 2,500,000 in the big blind. Neagoe again folded.

Gude then raised to 500,000 in the small blind, and Josef Gulas called in the big blind.

Both players checked the A8K flop, and Gude also checked the 10 turn. Gulas bet 350,000, but Gude raised to 1,500,000, and Gulas quickly folded.

Schnitzler Chops With Gulas

Level 31 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Rene Schnitzler raised to 500,000 and then folded when Elia Salerno jammed for 3,000,000 in the big blind.

Two hands later, Josef Gulas raised to 2,000,000 in the cutoff and then got his chips in when Schnitzler jammed from the big blind.

Rene Schnitzler: 77 All in
Josef Gulas: AJ

The 10109109 board provided a full house on the board and they chopped the pot. "How is that possible?" Schnitzler groaned in German.

Josef Gulas
Josef Gulas

Josef Gulas raised to 1,400,000 in the cutoff and Rene Schnitzler moved all in from the big blind. Gulas called for an additional 500,000.

Josef Gulas: KJ All in
Rene Schnitzler: A10

Schnitzler remained in the lead with his ace going to the river as the board came 9846, but Gulas hit the 3 to make a flush and double up.

A few hands later, Darius Neagoe raised to 400,000 in the cutoff, Matthias Gude shoved for 1,450,000 in the small blind, and Neagoe called.

Matthias Gude: KJ All in
Darius Neagoe: Q7

Neither player connected with the 10109A6 board, and Gude's king-kicker was enough to earn him a double up.

Georgios Tsouloftas
Georgios Tsouloftas

First to act, Georgios Tsouloftas pushed all in for 2,675,000, and Rene Schnitzler moved all in over the top from the next seat with the marginally covering stack. All other players folded, and the cards were revealed.

Georgios Tsouloftas: KQ All in
Rene Schnitzler: 99

The board ran out 653J10 and Tsouloftas briefly showed his fist, which confused Schnitzler.

"You scared me," the German grimaced. His stack of 3,175,000 covered, and the Cypriot bowed out in sixth place for €25,050, which includes the €10,350 WSOPE Main Event entry.
