After the completion of seven 90-minute levels across two starting flights at King’s Resort, the 2025 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event moves onto Day 2 today, October 5, at noon local time.
With late registration still open until the end of Level 12 in the €10,350 buy-in, €6,000,000 guaranteed event, 358 players return from a current total of 546 entries, all dreaming of victory in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar, and of course, capturing the coveted Main Event bracelet.
Christopher Puetz of Germany has put himself in prime position to do just that, sitting atop the current standings on 679,000. He is closely followed by Colossus winner, Mexican Jose Gomez Casillas (665,500), while Slovakian Marek Tomes (637,700) completes the podium places.
| Rank | Player | Country | Chip Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Christopher Puetz | Germany | 679,000 |
| 2 | Jose Gomez Casillas | Mexico | 665,500 |
| 3 | Marek Tomes | Slovakia | 637,700 |
| 4 | Michael Sklenicka | Czechia | 543,800 |
| 5 | Yannick Schumacher | Germany | 456,700 |
| 6 | Diego Montone | Italy | 455,800 |
| 7 | Murilo Garcia | Brazil | 439,400 |

| 9 | Ivan Banic | Croatia | 410,500 |
| 10 | Bastian Gallitzendoerfer | Germany | 407,000 |
Puetz will be hoping to finally land a major title, after many close calls in recent years. In the 2020 GG Poker WSOP Online series, he finished runner-up in the $2,500 Double Stack No Limit Hold'em for $298,296, and fourth in the $600 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack Championship for $89,174. He followed that up with a third-place finish in this year's World Series in Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em for $238,204.
Casillas is full of confidence after landing his first bracelet a matter of days ago in the Colossus, along with a first six-figure cash of €158,350, and it would be a huge story if he could capture a second bracelet of the series.
Tomes has two recorded live results for total cashes of less than $10,000, and he will be hoping for a massive career-best score, although there is a long way to go before registration closes and the money places are in sight. (All figures courtesy of The Hendon Mob).
There is an astounding total of 49 bracelets held between the players in a star-studded field, with Dominik Panka (375,500), Yuhan Wang (303,100), Rifat Palevic (275,000), Shaun Deeb (270,400), Lukas Pazma (269,400), Axel Bayout (251,900), Jonas Lauck (241,200), Antonello Ferraiuolo (208,000) and Pawel Wojciechowski (207,700) all in that club, and all sitting above the 200,000 mark.
Play in Day 2 will resume at Level 8, with blinds of 800/1,600, with a 1,600 big blind ante. The clock will be set to 90-minute levels, with late registration open until the end of Level 12. Players entering in Day 2 will receive a starting stack of 100,000, with breaks scheduled at the end of each level.
The present intention is to play seven 90-minute levels in Day 2, subject to potential alteration. Prize pool and payouts will be confirmed once late registration is closed.

Giuseppe Zarbo and Yuhan Wang were heads-up on the turn with the board showing 4♥10♣J♣J♠ with around 30,000 in the pot when Zarbo bet 20,000 from the big blind. Wang then moved all in, and Zarbo called for his last 50,000.
Zarbo showed 6♣2♣ for a flush draw and needed to improve against Wang's K♦K♥, but the A♠ river was no help and he was sent to the rail.

A pot of 8,400 had developed on a flop of 8♠6♦3♠, in a hand between Leonhard Beutlhauser in early position and Alberto Speranzoni in the big blind.
Speranzoni led out with a bet of 10,000, and was met with a raise to 30,000 from his opponent.
Speranzoni made the call to see the 10♣ turn, which was checked to the 2♣ river, which was also checked down.
Speranzoni tabled 6♠5♠ for a pair of sixes, and that was good enough to force Beutlhauser to muck.
