On a completed board of 10♠8♦7♦7♠Q♥ and with around 450,000 in the pot, Gerald Karlic bet 100,000 from the blinds and Catalin Pop called from under the gun.
Karlic showed a bluff with K♠2♠ and lost the pot to Pop's 9♠9♦ for a pair of nines.
In a three-way single-raised pot, the J♠5♠5♦6♥ turn was checked by Ferdinando D'Alessio in the big blind and Jonas Lauck from under the gun while Claudio Di Giacomo also checked behind. The 4♦ on the river was checked to Di Giacomo and he then bet 400,000. Only Lauck called and mucked when he was shown the A♥J♥.
Alberto Speranzoni raised to 100,000 in middle position and Josef Gulas three-bet to 275,000 on the button. Speranzoni then moved all in, and Gulas called for 475,000.
Josef Gulas: A♠5♠
Alberto Speranzoni: A♥K♣
Gulas was dominated and at risk as the flop came 9♣3♠4♣, giving him some outs with a straight draw. The Q♦ turn was no help, while the river was the J♣ and Gulas' dream of following his son as a WSOP Europe champion came to an end.
Lulei Hu raised to 110,000 under the gun and Bastian Gallitzendoerfer called in early position.
Hu bet 125,000 on the 10♥9♠3♥, and Gallitzendoerfer came back with a raise to 350,000. Hu called to see the 7♠ turn.
Gallitzendoerfer then bet 250,000 and Hu again called. The J♥ river was checked down, and Hu showed A♠10♦. Gallitzendoerfer, though, turned over Q♦J♠ for a rivered pair of jacks to win the pot.
With the field reduced to the final 32 players and their table set to break, Daniele Sacchi got his shorter stack in from the small blind and was looked up by Gerald Karlic on the button.
Daniele Sacchi: Q♦J♦
Gerald Karlic: A♥10♣
The A♣9♥7♦5♠5♦ board left Sacchi drawing dead on the turn to bow out in 32nd place.
Ferdinando D'Alessio moved all in for 700,000 in the hijack and Daniel Pidun put him at risk under the gun.
Ferdinando D'Alessio: K♠J♦
Daniel Pidun: K♥Q♣
D'Alessio was dominated and the 3♣4♠9♥6♥5♣ board improved neither player, keeping Pidun in the lead with his queen-kicker and sending D'Alessio to the rail.
Teemu Jaatinen raised to 110,000 in the cutoff with A♦7♠ and Yuhan Wang picked up K♦K♣ in the small blind and three-bet to 350,000. Jaatinen then four-bet to 720,000.
Wang came back with an all-in shove, and Jaatinen quickly folded.
