Thiago Teles opened to 32,000 from the cutoff, and Michael Dick called from the big blind
.
Dick checked blind on the 9♣Q♦3♥ flop, and Teles checked it back.
On the J♦ turn, Dick checked again and Teles bet 36,000, which Dick called.
The river brought the 7♥, and Dick checked once more. Teles fired 93,000, and Dick took his time, using two time bank cards before making the call. Teles turned over K♦10♣ for a straight, which was enough to take down the pot.
Pierre Calamusa raised to 32,000 from the cutoff. Axel Hallay in the big blind moved all-in and Calamusa snap-called off his last 421,000.
Pierre Calamusa: A♠K♠
Axel Hallay: A♦K♣
Both players had the same hand but Calamusa flopped a flush draw on J♥4♠10♠. He asked for the deuce of spades turn but saw the 2♣. The flush came with the J♠ river and he doubled up.
With around 250,000 in the pot and the flop showing A♦K♥A♣, Andrii Nadieliaiev led out for 50,000 from the big blind and Boris Progner called on the button.
The K♦ on the turn paired the board again, and Nadieliaiev continued for 16,000. Progner raised to 75,000, only for Nadieliaiev to come back with a raise to 366,000. Progner responded by moving all in, and Nadieliaiev did not hesitate before calling.
Boris Progner: A♠J♦
Andrii Nadieliaiev: A♥Q♠
Both players showed the same full house, leaving no way to separate them. The 10♦ river was just a formality, and the pot was split.
If you watched the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on ESPN back in 2004, there’s a good chance you saw Ted Lawson capture his gold bracelet. It happened in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event at a final table that included Freddy Deeb, Howard Lederer, and Daniel Negreanu (Fun Fact: Chris Moneymaker finished 10th in the tournament).
What’s interesting is that he’s not the only bracelet winner in his family. His wife of over 40 years, Michele Lawson, is a player herself, and in November 2024, she topped a field of 1,293 runners to win the WSOP Online Bracelet Event #27: NLH Hold’em for $41,567 and her own piece of gold.
“It meant a lot to both her and me, because as a couple, we're like one of seven couples or whatever it is to both win WSOP gold bracelets,” Ted told PokerNews.
Indeed, there aren’t many bracelet-winning poker couples in the industry – Kristen & Alex Foxen and Liv Boeree & Igor Kurganov are two that jump to mind – but the Lawsons are among them in a poker journey 20 years in the making.
Jack Loraine opened from early position but Daniel Rezaei in the cutoff three-bet to 95,000. Loraine four-bet to 255,000 and Rezaei made the call.
Loraine continued for 190,000 on a flop of 4♥5♠3♥ and was called, then fired a second barrel to 280,000 on the 10♠ turn. Rezaei counted his stack and moved all-in for approximately 610,000. Loraine quickly called.
Daniel Rezaei: Q♣Q♥
Jack Loraine: A♠A♥
The K♥ completed the board but Rezaei was already standing up and eliminated.
