On Wednesday, the $10,000 buy-in, $10,000,000 GTD Wynn Millions continued with Day 3, which saw 162 players from a 1,328-entry field return to action. After five 90-minute levels of play, just 61 players remained with bracelet winner Anthony Marquez and his stack of 1.925 million leading the way.

Others still in contention for the $2,018,866 first-place prize are Ralph Perry (1.915 million), Anthony Huntsman (1.905 million), Santiago Soriano (1.785 million), and Maria Ho (1.735 million), who round out the top five counts.

They were joined by players such as Ilyas Muradi (1.7 million), Ari Engel (1.57 million), Toby Lewis (1.51 million), Thomas Boivin (1.205 million), Joe Kuether (1.14 million), Sandeep Pulusani (1.095 million), Tom Marchese (980,000), Frank Funaro (905,000), Andrew Moreno (890,000), Cliff Josephy (875,000), and poker power couple Kristen Bicknell (745,000) and Alex Foxen (440,000).

A $12,483,200 prize pool was up for grabs to the top 134 finishers, which meant 28 players left empty handed including Ema Zajmovic, Poker Hall of Famer Jack McClelland, bracelet winners Anuj Agarwal and David “The Dragon” Pham, Sergio Aido, and bubble boy Carlos Alvarado, who busted after running pocket kings into the two black aces of Foxen.

Some of those to cash but fail to survive the night were Robert Mizrachi (67th - $41,997), David “ODB” Baker (68th - $41,997), Jason Koon (79th - $38,179), Connor Drinan (82nd - $34,708), Benny Glaser (104th - $29,348), GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu (114th - $27,099), Poker Hall of Famer John Hennigan (119th - $25,091), 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess (124th - $25,091), and Chris Moorman (127th - $25,091).

As for Negreanu, he built a stack on Day 2c and was cruising for much of Day 3 until a big hand derailed him when his ace-king was beaten by ace-queen. Not long after, he was racing with an ace-queen of his own but failed to overcome the pocket nines of Scott Eskenazi. Losing that one left “Kid Poker” with a single ante, which he lost one hand later losing ace-five to ace-jack.

Just before the dinner break, Koon suffered a bad beat when he just called a preflop raise from Max Young with pocket aces. He then called a bet on a ten-high flop only to see the turn produce another ten. Young moved all in and Koon called only to see the former roll over ace-ten for trips.

While many dreams were dashed over the course of Day 3, there are still dozens of hopefuls each guaranteed a minimum $46,406 payday.

PokerNews will be back on Thursday at Noon local time to capture all the action, so be sure to join us then as the 2021 Wynn Millions rolls on.

Engel Coolers Heckman in Straight Flush Over Straight Flush

Level 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Andrew Heckman
Andrew Heckman

Andrew Heckman opened under the gun for 40,000 and then called Ari Engel's 105,000 three-bet from middle position.

The {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades} flop saw Heckman check-call Engel's 95,000 continuation bet and then do the same for 160,000 after the {5-Hearts} fell on the turn.

Once the dealer completed the board with the {6-Hearts} on the river, Heckman moved all in and was snap-called by Engel.

Heckman rolled over {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for the six-high straight flush and thought he had won the hand until Engel rolled over {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for the seven-high straight flush, leaving him with just 30k.

A few hands later, Heckman lost his remaining stack and exited the tournament in 62nd place for $46,406.

Bicknell Gaining Traction After Back-to-Back Doubles Just Before Dinner Break

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

Double Up #1 Kristen Bicknell open-jammed under the gun for 125,000 and Santiago Plante isolated from the cutoff.

Kristen Bicknell: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Santiago Plante: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Bicknell needed help and found it on the {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop but it also gave Plante a broadway draw. Luckily for Bicknell, the board completed with the {7-Spades} turn and the {4-Hearts} river securing her the pot.

Double Up #2 Action quickly folded around to Frank Funaro who raised to 25,000 on the button and then snap-called Bicknell's 226,000 three-bet jam from the big blind.

Frank Funaro: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Kristen Bicknell: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Bicknell was behind once again needing help but didn't find it on the {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop. Luckily for her, a prayer was answered as the {a-Spades} peeled off on the turn and the {8-Clubs} river secured her double up.

Cracked Aces End Koon's Run in 79th Place

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Just minutes before the dinner break, Max Young raised from early position and action folded to Jason Koon, who looked down as the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} in the big blind.

He opted to just call, which brought about a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Koon checked and then called when Young continued for 24,000.

After the dealer burned and turned an offsuit {10-}, Koon checked and Young moved all in. Koon, who began the hand with 156,000, called off only to see Young roll over {a-}{10-} for trips.

The river was not the case ace Koon needed and he saw his Wynn Millions experience come to an end in 79th place for $38,179.

Putinas Rivers Four Card Flush to Eliminate Matakis

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Gintautas Putinas raised under then gun and then called the three-bet jam Ian Matakis put in on the button.

Ian Matakis: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Gintautas Putinas: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Matakis had Putinas crushed but the {10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop brought backdoor flush outs for Putinas.

Unfortunately for Matakis, that's exactly what played out as the {a-Clubs} turn followed by the {k-Clubs} river completed the flush for Putinas and the Minnesota native was eliminated from the tournament.

Negreanu Takes Big Hit Then Knocked Out

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu lost a large pot when his {a-}{k-} went down in flames to {a-}{q-}. An ace board with a queen on the river, Negreanu check-called Kevin Wang's river bet only to see the bad news, losing majority of his stack.

Not long after, Negreanu raised to 20,000 under the gun, and action folded to Scott Eskenazi in the small blind. He jammed for 168,000 and Negreanu, who had him covered by just 10,000, quickly called.

Scott Eskenazi: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was a flip, and while Negreanu paired his queen on the {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, Eskenazi also flopped a set. The {k-Hearts} turn left Negreanu drawing dead and he was left with just 10,000, which went in as the ante the very next hand.

Negreanu had {a-Spades}{5-Clubs} for his last hand but failed to get lucky against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} after the board ran out {5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Negreanu finished the inaugural Wynn Millions in 114th place for $27,099.

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

We missed the elimination of 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess as it happened, but he was kind enough to fill us in on some details after the hand.

According to the man himself, he was down to six big blinds and jammed from the hijack. The player to his direct left called while the rest of the players got out of the way.

Ryan Riess: {4-}{4-}
Cutoff: {k-}{q-}

It was a race and while Riess held through both the {a-}{7-}{6-} flop and {a-} turn, a {k-} spiked on the river to end his run in 124th place for a min-cash of $25,091.
