Who Will Make the Money on Day 3 of the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Wynn Millions ($10M GTD)?

Maria Ho
Maria Ho

Welcome to Day 3 of the Wynn Millions! Day 2ab saw 76 players advance from the 240 survivors from Days 1ab and yesterday, the remaining 246 players from Days 1c took to the felt.

After five levels of play, only 86 of them made it through and the time has arrived for the two fields to combine under one roof.

At noon today, those 162 players that're still in contention from the 1,328 total entries will battle it out for their shot at a piece of the $13,280,000 prize pool.

The top 134 players will make it into the money meaning 28 players will be leaving empty-handed. Entering today with the chip lead is Frank Funaro, who bagged a whopping 953,000 on Day 2c.

Daniel Negreanu Looks to Make Deep Run in Wynn Millions

Players in the top ten all hold a stack with over 100 big blinds but doesn't mean there isn't plenty of formidable contenders still left in the field as Farid Jattin (662,000), Daniel Negreanu (621,000), Maria Ho (500,000), Jared Jaffee (462,000) and Connor Drinan (449,000) will make their way up the mountain in hopes of making a deep run.

While the latter sits comfortably, an uphill battle is instore for Nadya Magnus (106,000), John Racener (103,00), David Pham (95,000), Sergio Aido (92,000), Kathy Liebert (85,000), and Jack McClelland (34,000) if they wish to make it into the money here on Day 3.

Day 3 Schedule

Play will begin at noon local time, with blinds picking up at level 16 where blinds are 3,000/6,000/6,000. The plan is to play a total of six 90-minute levels with a 10-minute break between each and a 60-minute dinner break after level 19.

This six-day No-Limit Hold’em event will play through Saturday, July 3, 2021, with Days 3 and 4 playing six 90-minute levels, then the remaining field playing until the final table is reached on Day 5. The final day will play until a winner is declared.

There're 162 players returning for Day 3 action, and only 134 spots will be grabbing a piece of the prize pool. Starting the day this close to the money might make for some conservative play, but judging by the previous flights, the tournament should retain the action-filled play that has been up to this point.

A min-cash will be paying $25,091, but all eyes will be on making it through Day 3 for a chance to win the $2,018,666 first-place prize.

McClelland Falls to Bicknell

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jack McClelland
Jack McClelland

Kristen Bicknell raised to 12,000 from middle position, Harrison Gimbel three-bet to 36,000 from the hijack and Jack McClelland called off his 34,000 stack on the button.

Action folded back around to Bicknell who five-bet to 80,000 and Gimbel gave her stone look before mucking his hand.

Kristen Bicknell: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Jack McClelland: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

McClelland woke up with a premium hand and although it was inferior to Bicknell's pocket kings, the {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop wasn't horrible for McClelland as it gave him four more outs with a gutshot straight draw.

Unfortunately for the McClelland, neither the {9-Clubs} turn nor the {4-Hearts} river were cards he wanted to see and he was eliminated from the tournament.

2013 WSOP Main Event Champ Exits in 124th Place

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

We missed the elimination of 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess as it happened, but he was kind enough to fill us in on some details after the hand.

According to the man himself, he was down to six big blinds and jammed from the hijack. The player to his direct left called while the rest of the players got out of the way.

Ryan Riess: {4-}{4-}
Cutoff: {k-}{q-}

It was a race and while Riess held through both the {a-}{7-}{6-} flop and {a-} turn, a {k-} spiked on the river to end his run in 124th place for a min-cash of $25,091.

Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

Kathy Liebert raised all in under the gun for 64,000, Ari Engel called from the cutoff only to call Jared Jaffee's 203,000 over-the-top jam from the big blind.

Ari Engel: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Kathy Liebert: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Jared Jaffee: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Jaffee held the best hand and the {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{q-Spades} runout didn't change a thing as he eliminated Liebert from the tournament while also collecting more then a double in the process.

Negreanu Takes Big Hit Then Knocked Out

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu lost a large pot when his {a-}{k-} went down in flames to {a-}{q-}. An ace board with a queen on the river, Negreanu check-called Kevin Wang's river bet only to see the bad news, losing majority of his stack.

Not long after, Negreanu raised to 20,000 under the gun, and action folded to Scott Eskenazi in the small blind. He jammed for 168,000 and Negreanu, who had him covered by just 10,000, quickly called.

Scott Eskenazi: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was a flip, and while Negreanu paired his queen on the {9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, Eskenazi also flopped a set. The {k-Hearts} turn left Negreanu drawing dead and he was left with just 10,000, which went in as the ante the very next hand.

Negreanu had {a-Spades}{5-Clubs} for his last hand but failed to get lucky against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} after the board ran out {5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Negreanu finished the inaugural Wynn Millions in 114th place for $27,099.

Putinas Rivers Four Card Flush to Eliminate Matakis

Ian Matakis

Gintautas Putinas raised under then gun and then called the three-bet jam Ian Matakis put in on the button.

Ian Matakis: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Gintautas Putinas: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Matakis had Putinas crushed but the {10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop brought backdoor flush outs for Putinas.

Unfortunately for Matakis, that's exactly what played out as the {a-Clubs} turn followed by the {k-Clubs} river completed the flush for Putinas and the Minnesota native was eliminated from the tournament.

Cracked Aces End Koon's Run in 79th Place

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Just minutes before the dinner break, Max Young raised from early position and action folded to Jason Koon, who looked down as the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} in the big blind.

He opted to just call, which brought about a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Koon checked and then called when Young continued for 24,000.

After the dealer burned and turned an offsuit {10-}, Koon checked and Young moved all in. Koon, who began the hand with 156,000, called off only to see Young roll over {a-}{10-} for trips.

The river was not the case ace Koon needed and he saw his Wynn Millions experience come to an end in 79th place for $38,179.

Bicknell Gaining Traction After Back-to-Back Doubles Just Before Dinner Break

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

Double Up #1 Kristen Bicknell open-jammed under the gun for 125,000 and Santiago Plante isolated from the cutoff.

Kristen Bicknell: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Santiago Plante: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Bicknell needed help and found it on the {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop but it also gave Plante a broadway draw. Luckily for Bicknell, the board completed with the {7-Spades} turn and the {4-Hearts} river securing her the pot.

Double Up #2 Action quickly folded around to Frank Funaro who raised to 25,000 on the button and then snap-called Bicknell's 226,000 three-bet jam from the big blind.

Frank Funaro: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Kristen Bicknell: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Bicknell was behind once again needing help but didn't find it on the {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop. Luckily for her, a prayer was answered as the {a-Spades} peeled off on the turn and the {8-Clubs} river secured her double up.
