On December 8, the 2021 Wynn Winter Classic hosted a $400 buy-in, $40K GTD No-Limit Hold'em event. The tournament surpassed its guarantee as 140 runners created a $48,300 prize pool.

That was reserved for the top 15 finishers, and among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Kevin El-Far (15th - $888), Jason Fitzpatrick (14th - $888), Jon Orlando (13th - $1,002), Kathleen Gale (12th - $1,002), David Peterson (11th - $1,145), and David Schaerf (10th - $1,145).

In the end, Spain's David Perez defeated Ukraine's Ruslan Rogozhyn in heads-up play to claim the title and $12,545 top prize.

Cheong Cracks Zajmovic's Aces on Bubble

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Ema Zajmovic
Ema Zajmovic

A player opened to 13,000 in the cutoff, Joseph Cheong three-bet to 37,000 on the button, and Ema Zajmovic jammed in her 41,000 stack in the big blind. The cutoff folded and Cheong called.

Ema Zajmovic: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Joseph Cheong: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Zajmovic had the best starting hand in poker and was lightly joking around with the table while awaiting the other tables to finish their hands, yet was still cautious and uneasy with the possibility of bubbling.

The dealer spread a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to give Cheong a straight and leave Zajmovic drawing thin with her rockets. The {6-Hearts} turn brought in some chop possibilities which some players at the table were calling for, but the {3-Clubs} completed the board.

"You are the best," Zajmovic said to Cheong before making her exit following the unfortunate result.

Lindsay Chips Up Against Reilly

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Tim Reilly opened to 13,000 from the cutoff and Katie Lindsay three-bet to 30,000 in the small blind. Reilly called.

Lindsay bet 26,000 on the {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop and Reilly called.

The {9-Clubs} came on the turn and Lindsay bet 60,000. Reilly briefly thought about it before folding to send the pot to Lindsay, who added the chips to the big stack she's accumulated so far today.

Cheong Takes from Kuo

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Kitty Kuo raised to 13,000 from under the gun and Joseph Cheong called from middle position while a player came along from the cutoff.

The flop was {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} and all three players checked.

The turn was {k-Hearts} and Kuo bet 24,000. Cheong called and the player in the cutoff folded. The river was {9-Clubs}.

Both players checked the river and Kuo turned over {a-}{q-}. Cheong tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} to take the pot with kings and sevens.

Before the break and with about 90,000 in the pot and a {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board showing, Ema Zajmovic check-called a 40,000 bet in the big blind against Kitty Kuo in early position.

The {10-Hearts} completed the board and after Zajmovic checked, Kuo jammed for her remaining 96,000. Zajmovic thought about it before calling.

Kuo turned over {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a boat which beat the smaller boat of Zajmovic who could only show {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.
