Hard Rock Las Vegas Construction Reaches a Significant Milestone
Construction crews have installed the final structural beam atop the tower of the Hard Rock Las Vegas guitar hotel, marking a significant milestone for the multi-billion dollar project. A ceremony held on May 1 celebrated the "topping out" of the guitar, which is built on the former site of the iconic Mirage.
Similar to the Seminole Hard Rock in Florida, the Hard Rock Las Vegas property features a hotel tower in the shape of a massive guitar. The hotel tower stands proud at more than 660 feet, spans 42 floors, and is expected to have between 650 and 675 rooms. Once the guitar tower and other renovations are complete, Hard Rock Las Vegas will boast approximately 3,700 rooms.
During the topping out ceremony, Joe Lupo, President of Hard Rock Las Vegas, said, "We sit here at the foot of a structure that will change the skyline, will bring in millions more visitors to the Las Vegas Strip, and also employ up to 6,000 Las Vegas residents from our community. It's truly an honor for the Hard Rock Las Vegas team, who are here today, knowing we will be handed the keys in about a year and a half, and confidently opening the next great, highly successful resort here in Las Vegas."
The Hard Rock Las Vegas is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2027. Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming are the brains behind the redevelopment. They paid $1.075 billion to MGM for the Mirage in December 2022. Once the Mirage closed in July 2024, demolishing the volcano attraction was one of the project's first tasks. Work on the site has already extended its footprint by approximately 1.4 million square feet.
Total project costs are estimated at between $4 billion and $5 billion.
In addition to the expected 3,700 rooms, Hard Rock Las Vegas will include around 175,000 square feet of casino space. For comparison, the Bellagio has 156,000 square feet, and the MGM Grand has 161,800 square feet of casino space.
Patrons will be able to choose from a selection of 2,000 slots and more than 200 table games, all amidst a rock and roll backdrop that the Hard Rock properties are famous for.
