Farber Tells TMZ He's Buying a Ferrari and an Aston Martin; Megatron Discusses Riess

On Wednesday, a day after playing heads up for the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event title and over $8.3 million, both runner-up Jay Farber and champion Ryan Riess were in the national news.

Among the many stories about the new champion, the ESPN NFC North blog highlighted some quotes from Calvin "Megatron" Johnson about Riess wearing his jersey at the final table and during heads-up play:

Now, because of the jersey, Johnson knows who Riess is. Johnson told on Wednesday he did not watch it, but had heard all about the poker pro representing, well, both of them.

“Somebody just sent me a text message with a picture of the dude wearing my jersey,” Johnson said. “And told me the situation.”

The win made Riess the grand prize in his sport, but still less than Johnson’s salary this season. And the meeting that couldn’t happen at the mall when Riess was just a fan could now occur with some bigger context around it.

He said someone from the Lions — he didn’t know who — contacted his father saying the team would like to have him on the sideline for a game.

“That would be an honor,” Riess said. “It would be the coolest thing ever.”

TMZ caught up with Farber in Los Angeles, and he told them that he plans on making a couple of big purchases:
