The Online Railbird Report: Viktor "Isildur1" Blom Wins $1 Million in a Day

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom

When he's at the virtual felt, there's no denying Viktor "Isildur1" Blom drives the action. Two weeks ago he finished as the biggest winner, only to give it all back last week. Now, Blom has once again returned to the top of the leaderboard with $265,514 on PokerStars from April 24-29. What's more, on the last day of the month, he reportedly won $1 million on Full Tilt.

Other winners this week included Sebastian "taktloss47" Ruthenberg (+$134,918 in 2 sessions/121 hands), Ben "Bttech86" Tollerene (+$126,869 in 19 sessions/554 hands), and Elior "Crazy Elior" Sion (+$118,025 in 19 sessions/2,905 hands). However, Tollerene did lose $112,533 on PokerStars, so overall he barely turned a profit.

Meanwhile, last week's biggest winner, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, gave back all of his profit and finished as this week's biggest loser after dropping $210,003 in just 232 hands over two sessions on FTP. Not too far behind was "NoelHayes," who was PokerStars' biggest loser after giving $193,675 in in 3,430 hands over 26 sessions.

Full Tilt made some major changes to their high-stakes ring games, which you can read all about by clicking here.

Good Day for Galfond; "Carlooo13" Takes Down One of Biggest Pots of Year

In the early hours of Friday, April 24, Galfond and Cort "thecortster" Kibler-Melby played 396 hands at Full Tilt's $1,000/$2,000 2-7 triple draw tables, a match that lasted close to four hours. Things were even keel for the first two hours, but in the latter half Galfond hit a heater and ended up $176,700 in the black, enough to make him the day's biggest winner.

It was also on Friday that "Carlooo13" won $98,300, which came off Phil "Polarizing" Ivey at the $1,500/$3,000 8-game tables. According to HighStakesDB, the duo played for 3.5 hours, and Ivey actually led most of the time, up $160,000 at one point. However, in the last hour of the match, momentum swung to "Carlooo13," who proceeded to erase his losses and pull out to a $100,000 lead of his own.

"Carlooo13" was helped a great deal by winning one of the biggest pots we've seen in quite some time.

It happened in a round of $300/$600 pot-limit Omaha when Ivey ($105,732.35) raised to $1,800 from the button and then called when "Carlooo13" ($158,874.50) three-bet to $5,400. The {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop saw "Carlooo13" lead out for $7,128, Ivey raise to $23,400, and "Carlooo13" three-bet to $81,000. Ivey four-bet all in for $100,332.35, and "Carlooo13" made the call to create a hefty $211,464.70 pot.

"Carlooo13": {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Ivey: {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Ivey had flopped top and bottom pair, but he was practically drawing dead as "Carlooo13" had flopped top set. The two agreed to run it twice, but neither the {7-Diamonds} turn and {5-Spades} river on the first run nor {K-Spades} turn and {10-Diamonds} river on the second helped Ivey.

Ruthenberg and Sion Both Winners in Sunday Action; Bad Day for Galfond

On Sunday, April 26, Ruthenberg finished as the day's biggest winner after banking $134,900 at the $1,000/$2,000 2-7 triple draw tables, which is where he took on Galfond for 80 minutes. Things went the German pro's way the entire 120-hand match.

Meanwhile, over at PokerStars, Sion was the biggest winner with $100,500 in profit, which came from seven hours at the $200/$400 and $500/$1,000 2-7 triple draw tables. More than half of that, $54,500 to be exact, came off Galfond, who plays on PokerStars under the "MrSweets28" moniker.

Blom Wins $1 Million in a Single Day

On Tuesday, April 28, Blom managed to win $208,000 playing a mix of 2-7 triple draw, 8-game, and pot-limit Omaha on PokerStars. It was at the first of those games that Blom made his biggest score against Kibler-Melby.

To kick things off Blom won $74,600 at the $500/$1,000 tables, and then won $58,600 in a 90-minute afternoon session, which were at double the stakes. Toss in a $68,000 win at the $400/$800 8-Game off the likes of Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies, George Danzer, and "NoelHayes," and $5,500 from nearly 1,300 hands of PLO, and it was a pretty good day for the Swede.

Then, on Thursday, things got even better for Blom, who reportedly won over $1 million playing $1,000/$2,000 Omaha hi/lo. It happened when Blom won an estimated $200,000-$250,000 in the morning, and followed that up with an afternoon sessions that lasted 9.5 hours and saw him with another $700,000 against the likes of Matt "MUSTAFABET" Ashton, Kyle "KPR16" Ray, and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.

Blom also won $57,000 from Kibler-Melby at the $1,000/$2,000 2-7 triple draw tables. HighStakesDB hasn't had the chance to update their records for Blom, so his recent score isn't reflected in the numbers this week. Rest assured they will be in next week's Online Railbird Report, provided he can hold on to those chips.
