WSOP MI Online Poker Room Coming to Michigan on Monday

WSOP Michigan

Michigan is about to get a third online poker room as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) announced on Friday that WSOP MI will go live next week. The Wolverine State will become the fifth state to offer WSOP.com alongside Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

The WSOP made the announcement via social media that its online poker room in Michigan will launch on March 28. There's been no word on gold bracelet events, but if history is any indication expect officials to add some to the schedule this summer.

With any luck, Michigan players could find themselves competing against players from Nevada and New Jersey as earlier this week Michigan state regulators signaled their interest in offering multistate poker, which is expected to happen sometime this year (hopefully sooner than later).

The launch was first reported by Michigan Gaming Review, which noted that WSOP MI will be powered by Poker 8 software and will offer a full array of Sit & Gos, cash games and tournaments.

The news of a new online poker room was met positively by the poker community, including 2009 WSOP Main Event champion and Michigan native Joe Cada.

"Super excited for this," Cada wrote on Facebook. "WSOP Michigan launches Monday, and if you're playing any poker online in Michigan make this your go to. A lot of cool promotions in the first few months, and they will have WSOP Main Event Satellites before the summer."

According to the WSOP, new sign-ups will be awarded with a $50 free play and a 100% deposit match up to $1,000. Additionally, WSOP MI will offer satellites to allow players a chance to turn a few dollars into millions by qualifying to compete at the 2022 WSOP Main Event.

WSOP MI will become the third online poker option for players in Michigan since the state dealt its first hands of online poker in 2021, joining PokerStars and BetMGM.

Latest of Many Online Poker Developments

The news comes just days after the WSOP announced that it had partnered with GGPoker to launch WSOP.CA in early April for players in Ontario.

The new online poker room was promoted by GGPoker Global Ambassador and Canadian Daniel Negreanu, who said he was "thrilled that poker’s two greatest brands have come together to launch WSOP.CA and offer the Ontario poker community the perfect place to play online."

The news about WSOP MI also comes on the heels of Michigan state regulators signaling that they are interested in offering multistate poker.

On March 16, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) posted a document identifying “potential tasks and considerations for operators and platform providers," indicating the state could be close to entering the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) with New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware.

According to MI Gaming Review, the WSOP MI playing pool will be ring-fenced initially, though that could change if the state enters the MSIGA or forms another interstate gaming compact.
