Alex Foxen Wins 12th PGT Title as $1 Million Championship Freeroll Set to Begin

Alex Foxen closed out the main 2025 PGT season on Saturday with his 12th career title, and it will help his positioning in the upcoming $1 million freeroll Championship event.
The high-stakes legend took down the PGT Last Chance Series Event #6: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em for $232,400, outlasting a field of 83 entrants, including his heads-up foe, Brandon Wilson. Foxen, thanks to the 232 PGT points he earned, overtook Sam Soverel for the PGT points lead, which will come in handy on Monday (more on this in a bit).
Foxen Has Pole Position
After Wilson, who won Event #3, busted Andrew Lichtenberger in third place ($107,900) at the final table, he had a slight lead over Foxen. That lead would only increase. In fact, it quickly rose to a point where it appeared Wilson was on the verge of winning his second of the six events in the series.
With Foxen down 7:1 in chips, he won a 60/40 to double up. Moments later, he won another 60/40 to double into the chip lead, albeit only by a few chips. Wilson regained the lead before, yet again, Foxen won a 60/40 for a double up, this time moving into a commanding chip lead. He'd soon finish his opponent off, and you're never going to guess how the final hand played out. Yep, that's right, Foxen was all in preflop in a similar situation, and the board ran out favorably for the former college football athlete.

Wilson took home $149,400 as a consolation prize, and the 149 PGT points he earned for the runner-up finish brought him to 40th place on the PGT leaderboard, enough to start the PGT Championship freeroll on Monday with 160,000 chips. He'll be at a disadvantage against Foxen, who catapulted into the top spot, and that means he'll begin play with the largest stack — 350,000. Soverel, in second place, will begin with 340,000, followed by Chino Rheem with 330,000, Michael Mizrachi with 320,000, and Joao Simao rounds out the top five with a 310,000-chip starting stack.
There are 65 players who earned a seat to the freeroll, a no-limit hold'em tournament that kicks off at 1 p.m. PT inside the PokerGO Studio on the Las Vegas Strip. Day 1 will play down to the final six, and the winner, who will receive $500,000, will be crowned on Tuesday. Isaac Haxton, Jason Koon, Jeremy Becker, and Daniel Negreanu are among the participants.
