Guess Which Poker Star’s Dad Has Won Two Tournaments This Year?
Gary Cordeiro, the dad of PokerStars ambassador and poker content creator Marle Spragg, took down a poker tournament of his own this week in Las Vegas.
Cordeiro's tournament victory, which came after a heads-up deal, took place at Wynn Las Vegas in a $200 NLH Turbo event and earned him $4,922.
Like Daughter, Like Father
Spragg took to social media to celebrate her dad's tournament win, which happened to occur on the longtime poker content creator's birthday.
"He’s been working on his game a lot!" the PokerStars ambassador wrote on X. "You love to see it."
Cordeiro, who Spragg has said played a pivotal role in getting her interested in poker, has amassed $78,782 in Hendon Mob earnings since his first live cash in 2004. He had already won a tournament this year after taking down a $150 Monster Stack at the Orleans on Jan. 3 for $2,736 after a final table deal.
Last year, Cordeiro picked up two cashes at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), while he also cashed the European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo PokerStars Open Main Event.
His daughter, meanwhile, has earned $537,781 in live earnings since her first cash in 2013, in addition to landing a PokerStars ambassadorship. The two played the 2025 WSOP Tag Team together and cashed for $1,055.
Spragg and Cordeiro are hardly the first successful parent-child duo in poker, with the most notable example being Doyle Brunson and Todd Brunson.
Last summer, Yosef Fox won the $10,000 Mystery Bounty for his first bracelet, six years after his son Jorden Fox won a bracelet of his own.
Also in 2025, the father-son duo of Brett Emerick and Austin Emerick won the Free Poker Network (FPN) $200 Tag Team Championship in Las Vegas.
A few Poker Hall of Famers are also seeing their sons get into poker, including Phil Hellmuth and reigning Main Event champion Michael Mizrachi.
