Dan “Jungleman” Cates has never been one to shy away from a challenge, and last week, that curiosity led him somewhere new: into a boxing ring. PokerNews was on hand to capture Cates' debut in the squared circle.

In Rumble With the Jungle, PokerNews brings you exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Jungleman’s first sanctioned boxing match, including footage from his preparation, extended highlights from the fight itself, and the immediate aftermath of a bout that ended in controversy.

The fight took place in Southern California at The Maybourne Beverly Hills as part of the inaugural Beverly Hills Fight Club card. Cates squared off against Ryan “Elf” Noel, a sports betting show host and fellow boxing newcomer.

Despite being a heavy underdog, Jungleman somewhat held his own in the opening round, even if things looked a little scrappy to put it generously. However, Round One ultimately went Noel’s way as the more composed boxer.

Early in the second round, both fighters engaged in a clinch that saw the duo end up on the canvas together.

When they stood back up, the referee restarted the fight but Cates wasn’t in a fighting stance when Noel charged forward and landed a heavy shot to the side of his head.

The impact left Jungleman bloodied and visibly shaken, and the referee quickly stepped in to call off the fight.

The bout was ruled a no contest and neither fighter was declared the winner.
