Correction: This article originally stated that Club Fortune North would feature a poker room based on news reports. In a later news report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Truckee Gaming CEO Ferenc Szony said there were no plans for a poker room at the new casino.

A popular casino for Las Vegas locals that closed its doors and poker room last year announced that it will re-open, but under a different name, fresh look and new ownership. And, there will be no poker room.

CDC Gaming reported that Poker Palace, which closed for remodeling in October 2025, will reopen by mid-April as Club Fortune North under the ownership of Reno-based Truckee Gaming.

Locals Casino Reopens

The Nevada Gaming Control Board voted last week to recommend that the Nevada Gaming Commission allow the North Las Vegas casino to re-open under new ownership, according to CDC Gaming.

“It really needed to a dramatic change," said Ferenc Szony, CEO of Truckee Gaming. "We gave it a far more contemporary look. It was a total gut job on the interior, where we had to rip out part of the floor. We’re in the process of rebuilding.”

The Poker Palace was a popular off-Strip casino for locals and featured some of the lowest-stake live tournaments available, with buy-ins starting at just $20.

Several outlets initially reported that the renovated casino will include a "revitalized poker room" that would most likely consist of a half-dozen tables to serve $1/$2 cash games and low-stakes tournament action.

However, Szony later told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that there are no plans for poker room in the new casino, which is expected to open in mid-April.

"Poker and live tables will not be there on opening," Szony said. "With staffing and some of the other things that go on to get it open and get it going, we're not going to have live games at this stage."

The Las Vegas live poker scene has struggled to rebound from the coronavirus pandemic. The Green Valley Ranch Poker Room in Henderson, which closed in 2020, announced last fall that it would reopen.

Earlier this year, Planet Hollywood, which opened a renovated poker room in spring 2025, announced that the new room would be closing. During its brief existence, the Planet Hollywood Poker Room hosted events included a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit stop, a PokerNews meet-up game, and Allen Kessler's Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker (CMSOP).

Poker Palace is located in North Las Vegas near the Nellis Air Force Base. Another north Las Vegas locals casino, Sahara, closed its poker room in October 2024.
