Baron Jon Johnson isn't a household name in the poker world, but his performance this month, which includes a Wynn Millions title, is worthy of recognition.
The Wynn Millions series at Wynn Las Vegas wrapped its first week of action on the Strip, and Johnson, along with longtime poker pro Tristan Wade, were among the first to earn an iconic Wynn replica trophy.
Out of Nowhere
Baron Jon Johnson
Johnson entered the month of February with just $18,000 in live tournament cashes recorded by The Hendon Mob. He now has two big tournament wins and a heck of a lot more in earnings.
The California poker player, early in the month, earned a $45,089 score for winning an $1,100 Monster Stack event at Venetian. Two weeks later, just up the street, he took down the $600 No-Limit Hold'em ($200,000 guaranteed) in the Wynn Millions series for another $41,843, beating out 408 entrants. Are we witnessing the next big star in the mid-stakes poker tournament circuit? Time will tell, but Johnson is certainly making his mark in Las Vegas.

Wade Gets it Done
Tristan Wade
Wade, who has $2.1 million in live tournament cashes and a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, added another title to his poker resume last week. The Las Vegas local pro shipped a $400 H.O.R.S.E. event at the Wynn Millions on Feb. 19.
The $20,000 guaranteed single-day tournament had 73 entrants, and Wade was the last player standing. He received $5,907, while the runner-up, Bonita Rattner, was paid $4,755. Michelle Jett collected $3,815 for third place in a three-way chop.
PokerNews will have continued daily coverage of the Wynn Millions through the entire series. Follow along with our daily updates in the Wynn Millions blog.
