Biography

Maurice Hawkins is an American professional poker player with over $6.2 million in live tournament cashes and 21 World Series of Poker Circuit rings.

Hawkins sits atop the all-time WSOP Circuit ring list. His 18th ring was marred by controversy as it was revealed the third-place finisher incorrectly busted with the best hand.

Hawkins’ other big tournament successes include: 4th in the 2015 WPT Borgata Poker Open ($220,258), 6th in the 2017 WSOP $1,500 Monster Stack ($213,591), and 9th in the 2014 WSOP Millionaire Maker ($128,150).

He was also the chip leader going into Day 3 of the 2023 WSOP Main Event, ultimately finishing 35th for $280,100.

Hawkins has been the subject of several controversies. Most of these have involved Randy Garcia who sued Hawkins in 2019 for failure to pay out Garcia’s share in a staking agreement. The court awarded Garcia $115,828 in damages.

However, in 2022, Garcia alleged that Hawkins still hadn’t paid the full amount.
