When we came to Sam Capra's table there was a board showing

and Capra was in the hand against one short-stacked opponent. It was at this point that the player shoved all in. Capra instantly called and turned over
for a flopped straight.

Martin Drewe and Justin Cohen are out in the Oasis Room on the same table and they recently rumbled in a big hand. We arrived at the action with a flop showing

and Drewe had led out for 3,500. Cohen thought for some time before studying Drewe's stack (who had around 35,000). Eventually Cohen said he was all in and Drewe gave a small shrug and made the call.
Cohen:

Drewe:

A flush draw for Drewe and top-pair for Cohen. The
on the turn changed nothing, but the
on the river gave Drewe the card he needed as Cohen gave him a handshake.
Ryan Hong has taken a couple of hits to his stack early. A recent hand saw a player shove all in for 7,875 from early position. Hong was in the big blind and looked pained as he decided what to do. Eventually he opted to make the call, sliding in enough for a call.
Hong:

Opponent:

When the board ran out

, Hong would hit his ace, while his opponent hit a set. Hong will now a bit of help here on Day 2.

Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen has shown some early aggression. We walked by his table and noticed he had opened from middle position and then four-bet for a large portion of his stack when the big-blind player threw in a three-bet. Let's see if the player from Mexico can run his stack up.
Joel Dodds may now be referred to as the Tony Dunst of Australian poker as he showed up today in a fancy suit. Maybe he has somewhere else to be though, as we just noticed him heading to the rail after wishing his table good luck.
During last year's APPT Queenstown, Lynn Gilmartin got to know Dodds a little better. Who is his idol? Is he romantic? Apparently so. Perhaps that's why he's all dressed up on this fine Saturday afternoon.
The Star Poker Room's Manager just announced to the room that today will see them play 6 levels, have a dinner break and then play a further 4 levels. That means Day 2 will finish somewhere around midnight.
The call had been made for the cards to be dealt. The blinds are starting at 500-1000 with a 100-chip ante. Looking through the long list of Day 2 players and we have noticed there are dozens of short stacks, so we expect to see plenty of bodies on the rail early.
