Tam Truong lost a lot of his big stack early, but he seems to have got a lot of that back. A recent hand saw Truong take to a flop against one opponent.
Truong's opponent led for 3,800 on the flop and Truong then quickly popped it to 7,600. His opponent thought for quite some time before letting go of his hand.
When we walked past Leo Boxell's table we noticed that there was another player in his chair and that Peter Arisitidou had a much bigger stack than earlier. We asked Aristidou what happened to Boxell and he let us know. Apparently Boxell lost a big pot when he and one opponent got it all in on a flop showing two hearts. Boxell had the flush draw with the and his opponent held . Boxell hit his flush on the turn, but then his opponent hit a four-flush on the river.
A few hands later it was folded to Aristidou in the small blind and he opened it up with Boxell in the big blind. Boxell then shoved all in and Aristidou made the call. Boxell was in trouble, with his having to come up again . No help came for Boxell and it was out the door.
When one player opened it up from the cutoff to 3,200, Raemin Alexander would call from the small blind, along with Oliver Speidel in the big blind.
Flop:
On the flop, Alexander checked and Speidel led for 6,000. The other player in the hand then raised it up to 12,000 and Alexander got out of the way. It was now back on Speidel and after some thought he raised it to 30,500. Speidel's opponent then went into the tank before making the call.
The hit the turn and Speidel again put heavy thought into his decision before opting to check. Speidel's opponent then bet 10,000 and Speidel gave his hand up.
Tobin Ryall was hovering on around 250,000 for much of the last level, but now he has tripped up to around 200,000. The hand in question saw Ryall versus one opponent. Ryall held and his opponent held . The board ran out and it was a loss of around 50,000 for Ryall.
Ever wondered what goes on once play is done here? Well, I got a little surprise as Maria Ho let off some steam and Aaron Benton gave me a lesson on what to do with Jacks and Canadians... This was all during the PokerStars.net ANZPT Sydney player party which you can watch here.
Just as the break was ending George Cotaidis, better known as "Carwash George" came to the table to have a chat with those of us at the media desk. He has done this a few times over the last couple of days, but usually it's to tell us how the coffee tastes at The Star in Sydney (Melbourne coffee drinkers are so picky). This time he talked about poker and informed us he is alive and well on 80,000.
