The rich get richer as Anesone Bragouits has continued his giant run following the dinner break with the elimination of Oliver Helm.
Bragouits opened from the cutoff position before Helm moved all in from the button for another 32,500 on top. The blinds folded and Bragouits thought for a few moments before making the call with which would need to improve against Helm’s .
The flop was a bare but the turn gave Bragouits the lead with a pair of jacks. Helm wasn’t out of it as he picked up a flush draw but the bricked the river to see Helm eliminated as Bragouits is now up to a whopping 420,000 chips.
Brad Stafford opened up with a raise to 7,000 with the noticeably-quiet Koray Turker making the call in position to see a flop of .
Stafford checked and Turker bet enough to put his opponent all in, but Stafford had no hesitation in calling it off.
Stafford:
Turker:
It was a bit of a cooler flop with Stafford’s top set having to survive Turker’s nut flush draw. The turn was the to give Turker a pair, but that changed nothing as the completed the board.
Stafford commented to us that today had been a real grind for him, but now he’s back in business with a double up to around 90,000. Turker slips to 70,000.
A scary looking board and a big river bet of 25,000 faced Anesone Bragouits as he look across the table at Jan Suchanek and a board of .
With all sorts of straight and full house possibilities out there, Bragouits thought for a while before making the call. Suchanek sighed and opened for all sorts of busted draws as Bragouits collected the pot with for the old three-pair.
Suchanek is now down to 39,000 and under some pressure with Bragouits cruising as one of our chip leaders with 300,000 in chips.
Slade Fisher hasn’t had too bad a day at the felt, currently sitting with a little under 100,000 in chips, despite losing quite a large pot to Steven Holloway. We caught the action on the turn of a board, with just under 30,000 in the pot and with Holloway leading out for 14,000. Fisher tanked and eventually folded, sending the pot into the big stack of Holoway.
Fisher’s best live tournament result came earlier this year when he finished 2nd in the 2013 New Zealand Poker Championship at Christchurch, for which he picked up NZ$33,000.
Nicolas Oger has just lost a sizable chunk of his stack to Eric Chang. We arrived on the turn of a board, with Oger leading out for 10,700 and Chang eventually making the call.
The river was a and this time Oger led for 16,600. Chang took a long time before making the call, at which point Oger moved to muck his cards.
“Can I see his hand please,” Chang said with every right to do so.
Oger wasn’t keen to show his hand, at which point Chang showed .
Oger eventually showed his hand – – which went into the muck as Chang moves back up to 150,000 in chips. Oger is still healthy with around 170,000 in chips, but nowhere near his peak.
