The players are back from their break and ready to play some more poker. It is looking like 151 is the unofficial number of entrants for today's action, but we will let you know for certain as that information is made available.
We just arrived at the tail end of a hand that saw Raj Ramakrishnan double up. Ramakrishnan, who recently finished 2nd in the 6-max ANZPT Perth side event, held and while we didn't see his opponent's cards, the board was enough to watch Ramakrishnan scoop up the double.
Both Fabian Craib and Tristan Bain have had much success on the poker table, with Craib recently making two Aussie Millions final tables and Bain having an ANZPT Canberra final table on his record, along with a huge online poker resume. These two players are currently at the same table and we recently arrived at the final stages of a hand in which these two were battling it out.
There was already a board on the felt and a large pot building when Craib led for 3,800 on the river. Bain moved around in his seat, thinking for quite a while before making the call. Unfortunately Bain's cards would go into the muck when Craib turned over his .
The middle section of Day 1b of the ANZPT Perth Main Event is the smallest area of the tournament. Just four tables deep, below is how a few of the familiar faces in this area are traveling.
We just watched James Broom rake in a handy pot, with plenty of chips coming his way on the river of a board. We arrived at the action with Broom going up against one opponent and with a sizable pot already building. Broom has led for 3,100 on the river and his opponent was deep in thought before he eventually made the call.
When Broom tabled , it was strong enough to send his opponent's cards into the muck and scoop up the pot.
"Ace jack?" Broom asked as he stacked his riches. Broom's opponent simply nodded.
Michael Mariakis has had a good start to the day, seeing his chip stack near 30,000 during these early stages of Day 1b. We recently watched Mariakis and Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen rumble in a hand that began with Mariakis limping the button after the action folded to him.
Guillen was in the big blind in the hand in question and checked after the small blind got out of the way. On the flop, Guillen led for 200 and Mariakis called. The turn would see Guillen lead for 500 and Mariakis raise it up to 1,450. Guillen made the call and then opted to check the river.
Mariakis thought for quite some time on the river, eventually opting to check behind with his - a turned straight. Guillen let his hand go and Mariakis raked in the handy pot.
