Carpenter Doubles

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Colin Carpenter has landed a double up through William Qiu to stay alive in the Main Event. Carpenter moved all in from late position with {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} as Qui made the call in the big blind with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} to give Carpenter the double to 105,000 with Qui slipping back to the short stack with just 45,000.

Chon Doubles Through Muur

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Michael Chon had a was all in for his short stack holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} against the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} of Madis Muur. When the turn had ran out on a {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board, Chon had a huge amount of outs, with flush and straight draws. The {10-Diamonds} was river was what Chon was looking for and just like that he had managed to double up.

Ryan Lew the Next One Out

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We have just lost another player here on Day 3 of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event. As recalled to us by the floor staff here at SKYCITY Casino, Lew was all in preflop with his short stack holding {q-}{10-} - both cards being red. Asj Taylor made the call with {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and when the dealer flipped over a {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Lew was left drawing dead.

There are now 21 players remaining.

Frisby Flying

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Kenny Frisby has just won a handy little pot off Andrew Forsman. We arrived at the action with a large pot already building and with a {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop out on the felt. Both Frisby and Forsman were committing 21,500 each on the flop. The turn brought about a {3-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was a {10-Spades} and Forsman took a long time before checking over to Frisby. Eventually Frisby bet 18,000 and Forsman made the call.

At showdown, Forsman tabled {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, which went straight into the muck when Frisby turned over his {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flush.

Byrns Doubles Through Taylor

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Lukas Byrns has just managed to double up through Asj Taylor. It was Byrns holding {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} at-risk against the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} of Taylor. The {3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} board was safe for Byrns as he moved his stack above six figures. Taylor is still doing fine with his healthy stack.

Brabin Sent Home, Zheng Climbing

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

It looks like Iori Yogo will hold on to top spot in the ANZ Player of the Year race after the recent elimination of Luke Brabin.

Brabin is currently in 4th place on the POTY leader board, but he’s missed the points after getting his last chips in on a flop of {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} holding {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for trip nines, but he threw his head back in dismay when Jackson Zheng opened {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped full house.

The {10-Diamonds} turn and {6-Hearts} river completed the board to see Brabin on the rail as Zheng climbed towards the chip lead with over 200,000 in chips.
