Zheng Climbing

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We missed the initial betting amounts, but with a board reading {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}, Jackson Zheng placed out a bet, which was called. The other player in the hand then re-raised, prompting Zheng to move all in for his remaining 11,000 in chips. The player in between looked distraught about the bet, looking like he had a tough decision to make. He eventually folded, and the raiser called to see the cards tabled.

Zheng: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{9-Spades}

“I had queens,” said the player who folded.

Zheng was in front, but his opponent had out to a flush or two-pair to win the hand. The turn and river ran out {7-Diamonds} and {J-Diamonds} to see Zheng win the hand and move up to 30,000 in chips.

Karamalakis the Aggressor

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Two players committed 2,700 on a flop reading {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{Q-Spades} before the {9-Spades} fell on the turn. One of the players was Jonathan Karamalakis, who led out for 3,450 and was met with an instant raise to 7,500 in chips. That didn’t faze Karamalakis, as he counted out 13,000, and threw it into the middle. His opponent slowed down dramatically, going into the tank for almost four minutes, before another player called ‘time.’ As the tournament director counted down to zero, Karamalakis’ sat motionless, before his cards were eventually mucked into the pot.

Karamalakis then showed the {3-Clubs}, which confused and upset his opponent.

Gorr Out-Flopped

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We rushed over to the table after missing the raising war between several players, but we saw David Gorr all in for his remaining chips holding {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} against his opponents {A-Spades}{9-Spades}. The board unfortunately ran out {4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} to see the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event champion make an early exit from the tournament.

Engligh Crippled, Eliminated

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to see Tim English throw in a bet of 4,000 with a board reading {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. His opponent obliged by making the call and saw as English tabled his {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. He then opened his cards to reveal {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a rivered set.

After that hand, English dropped down to 5,000 in chips, and a few hands later was eliminated from the tournament.

Zalac’s Monster Quads

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

With a flop showing {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, Dominik Nitsche checked-called a bet of 2,500 by Ivan Zalac, before both players saw the {K-Clubs} drop on the turn. Again Nitsche checked, but took a little longer to call the bet of 3,500 by Zalac. When the river dropped the {K-Spades}, Nitsche motioned another check, before facing an instant bet of 5,500 from Zalac.

Nitshce tanked for almost three minutes before eventually relinquishing his hand, triggering Zalac to stand up and slam his {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} face up on the table.

Benton Surprised

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

The action was caught with Iori Yogo, Aaron Benton and a third player all committing 1,125 on a flop reading {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. When the {a-Clubs} dropped on the turn, Yogo and Benton both checked, before their opponent placed out a bet totalling 2,200. Yogo got out of the way, but Benton came along to see the {8-Diamonds} complete the board. He checked dark, then called a 5,000 bet and instantly folded when his opponent showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

Benton now sits on 11,500 in chips as he tries to build his stack back up.

Bower Doesn’t Show

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

With a board reading {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Milan Gurung checked his option from middle position, before facing a bet of 3,000 by Brad Bower in the cut off. He called, and again checked, when the river fell the {a-Clubs}. Bower instantly moved all in for his remaining 10,300 in chips, and after a minute in the tank, Gurung made the call.

“You got it!” sighed Bower, as his cards went straight into the muck.

“Good luck everybody,” said Bower, as he made his way out of the tournament.

With that hand, Gurung now sits on 38,000 in chips.
