Slow Times Back From Break

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Play has been extremely slow since returning from the break. This is likely due to the fact that the big blind average is now around 25 big blinds and so the players are really looking for the best spot to get their chips in preflop. In fact, we have seen very few flops at either of the two remaining tables. This can't last forever, so expect some double ups and/or eliminations very soon!

Namrood Gets Some Off Psaros

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Dimitrios Psaros has been crippled after doubling Rined Namrood. We arrived at the table on the river with Namrood announcing he was all in on the board of {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Psaros wasted little time as he made a quick call. Namrood showed the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the king-high flush and it was good as Psaros released his hand. Namrood moves up to over 600,000 and Psaros is down to 160,000.

Aaron Purdue Eliminated in 18th Place ($7,700)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Aaron Purdue has been sent to the rail in 18th place, collecting $7,700.

Purdue had a short stack and moved all in from the hijack position and found a caller in Li-ta Hsu from the small blind.

Hsu had the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Purdue had one over with the {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}.

The board ran {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Purdue was eliminated.

Ma's Miracle

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Zhi Ma has avoided elimination despite being dominated in a recent hand.

We caught up with the action with Ma at-risk after being called by Shaened Chand. Chand held the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} against Ma’s {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} with Ma needing a miracle to survive. In the end, Ma’s prayers were answered as he flopped a flush draw on the {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop and the turn {2-Diamonds} ensured he would stick around. The insignificant {10-Spades} completed the board as Ma moved up to 230,000.

Kanaan Gone & Down to Two Tables

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Former ANZPT Main Event Champion Michael Kanaan will not be adding another title to his list of accomplishments as he has been eliminated in 19th place.

Kanaan was short and shoved his 130,000 from under the gun and he got a caller from the cut off position in Rined Namrood. Kanaan was in trouble as he showed his {A-Clubs}{2-Spades} against Namrood’s {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. The board ran {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} giving Namrood the ace-high flush and the knock out.

With that, we are down to 18 players - the final two tables.

We will post a full seating draw shortly.
