Brian Bumpas Eliminated in 18th Place ($4,600)

Brian Bumpas eliminated in 18th place
Brian Bumpas eliminated in 18th place
Mark Pagsuyuin has just eliminated Brian Bumpas in 18th place.

Bumpas moved his final 200,000 chips in with {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and after some though Pagsuyuin made the call from the big blind with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} giving Pagsuyuin an open ended straight draw, which only strengthened his lead. The turn {9-Clubs} made that straight and Pagsuyuin began shaking hands with Bumpas - depsite the limited chance that he could still spike a King chop.

The river {3-Hearts} was not a king and therefore Brian Bumpas departs. Pagsuyuin now has 450,000 in chips.

Han's Big Bluff Goes Uncalled

We don't know if Terry Fan bet a {k-Spades} {2-Hearts} {j-Hearts} flop, but we do know he was facing either a bet or a raise from out-of-position player Dong-bin Han. The amount to call was 85,000, and Fan did call after about a minute. The turn {2-Diamonds} looked like a total blank and brought a large bet of 125,000 from Han. Fan thought, and thought, and then folded. Han triumphantly turned over {9-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} as he collected the pot.

Ker's New Found Wealth Takes A Hit

Jo Ker's new found chip wealth, didn't last him long. On a flop of {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} Ker shipped his stack in with {k-?}{10-?} and found Pontus Kers who called for less with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

The {2-Hearts} turn and {A-Spades} river did nothing to improve Ker (he didn't have a heart), but made Kers (yes Ker and Kers) trips to double him up to 325,000. Ker drops to 250,000.

Willcocks Doubles through Hilton

Phillip Willcocks
Phillip Willcocks
The action is starting to stir. On the feature table, David Hilton opened the pot to 30,000 in front of Phillip Willcocks, who moved all in for 262,000 total. Hilton called with pocket eights and must have cringed to see Willcocks' {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. Cue up the board: {2-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. That was no help for Hilton. He doubled Willcocks up to more than 500,000.

Some Action!

A couple of double-ups to report. Over on the feature table, we found our first flop in half an hour. Nick Pronk was all in with pocket nines and called by Rody Kaka. Unfortunately the action was so quick and silent (and the feature table a short walk from the outer table) that we didn't see Kaka's hand. But we did see the board -- {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Pronk's stack was counted down at 207,000. He now has about 420,000 while Kaka is crippled to 80,000.

Immediately after, on the outer tables, Jojo Tech doubled a very small stack with pocket queens. Joe Ker tried to take him out with {J-?} {7-?} but it was a no-go on a board of {10-Clubs} {j-Diamonds} {k-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}.

No Laughing Matter

Joe Ker
Joe Ker
Preflop, Joe Ker made an opening raise and Jojo Tech came over the top with a three-bet to 58,000. Ker, after some thought four-bet all in for another 125,000 more.

After taking the time to count down the stacks and sitting in the tank for what seemed forever Tech eventually made the call and tabled {k-Spades}{4-Hearts} much to the bemusement of the crowd.

Ker would be in a commanding position with his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and it would stay that with the board running out {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Ker now has 386,000.

Flops Endangered

We're not sure who put flops on the endangered species list or why they did, but something needs to be done. The feature table hasn't seen a flop in twenty minutes and the outer tables aren't much better. It's an odd place for play to have tightened up like this, but that's where we are. Stuck on twenty players with nobody seemingly interested in trying to take out anybody else.
