The final Day 1 flight has come to a close at the 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event and it was an exciting day of play which did not disappoint. There were an impressive 306 players who turned out for eight levels of play today and by the end it was China's Sha Jun who bagged up the most chips with 169,400.
The combined Day 1 flights made for a huge 575-player field - a record setting amount of players for the popular APPT stop in Macau.
Of those players, there will be approximately 315 players returning for Day 2 and will be vying for their share of the HKD 15,552,600 prize pool.
While it wasn't quite the spectacle of Phil Ivey's return to poker in yesterday's Day 1 flight, there certainly wasn't a lack of big names taking to the felt as 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan joined the likes of Team PokerStars Pro's Nacho Barbero, Celina Lin, Bryan Huang, Vivian Im, Maxim Lykov, along with PokerStars Team Online, Randy Lew.
Of those players it was only Lin and Lykov who couldn't manage a Day 2 berth as PokerStars will be well represented in tomorrow's action as Huang returns as one of the chip leaders with an impressive 154,100.
Also returning for play tomorrow will be previous APPT champion Victorino Torres, Jeff Rossiter, Phil Willcocks and Terrence Chan.
Some of those who succumbed to the rail throughout the day were Jacky Glazier, Joseph Cheong, Brendon Rubie, Charles Chua and Julius Colman.
Day 2 is set to kick off at 12 p.m. local time as PokerNews will again be on the floor in the beautiful Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino!
Lykov Eliminated
Team PokerStars Pro Maxim Lykov called a raise from the big blind before seeing the 
flop come down. On the flop, Lykov checked and his opponent bet 3,500. Lykov check-raised to 8,800 and the player called.

Benton Gone
Aaron Benton was crushed after taking that beat a little bit again and down under 10,000. Here's his final hand.
The player under the gun limped in and then a player from middle position raised to 4,500. The small blind made the call and Benton moved all in for 6,400 from the big blind. The limped called, the original raiser from middle position called and the small blind called.
The flop came down 
and action checked to the original raiser in middle position. He moved all in for 26,800 and knocked the other two remaining players out of the way. Benton held the

Shut Your Beep
There has been a bit of commotion in the tournament area as some yelling and swearing has occurred over on Aaron Benton's table.
Apparently it all started when Benton three-bet holding 
and received the call from one opponent who held 
. The flop fell 
and this is when Benton and his opponent got all their chips in.
Benton would need to dodge some diamonds, or else he would be left with only 6,000.
When the fell on the turn, Benton's opponent began celebrating and fist pumping so loudly that half of the giant casino turned away from their baccarat tables and looked towards the poker room. Benton was understandably a little offended at this celebration and began letting his opponent know how he felt.
Benton continued to niggle at his opponent, telling him how he had made a bad play and got lucky and this continued until...
"Shut your f***ing mouth! Shut your f***ing mouth!", Benton's opponent said as a rail of players continued to watch on in amazement.
"You copped a bad beat, take it like a man!", the player continued as Danny McDonough was called to the table to sort out the matter.

Johnny Chan the Master
Steve Bouya limped in from early position before action folded to Joe Ebanks on the button. He raised to 3,000. Johnny Chan reraised to 10,500 from the small blind and then play folded back to Bouya. He reraised all in for 23,900. Ebanks folded and Chan made the call.

After a player in middle position opened with a raise to 4,000, Dinh Le reraised to 9,000 with 35,100 behind from the hijack seat. Play folded back to the original raiser and he tanked for a bit before folding.
Le, who won this event back in 2007, is up to 50,500 in chips.
