Norah Greer Eliminated in 25th Place ($8,600)

Norah Greer has just been sent to the rail with her head held high as the last lady standing in the Melbourne APPT Main Event.

Greer open shoved for exactly 103,000 and the action was sent around to Mitch Carle in the big blind. Carle made the call and the players turned their hands over.

Carle: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Greer: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The board looked somewhat pretty for Greer, with a {k-Hearts} and a {q-Clubs} but squeezed in between those two cards was the {7-Spades}, a flopped set for Carle.

When the turn and river bricked, it was home for Greer who takes $8,600 for her efforts.

Mishel Anunu Eliminated in 26th Place ($8,600)

Jackson Zheng opened to 16,000 from the button and received a call from Mishel Anunu in the big blind.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Anunu check-called a 12,000 chip bet from Zheng. The {3-Diamonds} hit the turn and Anunu again check-called a bet from Zheng, this time 45,000.

A {5-Clubs} landed on the river and Anunu again checked. This time Zheng moved all-in, having Anunu covered.

Anunu went into the tank and eventually made the call turning over {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, holding middle-pair. Zheng turned over {j-Spades}{3-Spades} for two-pair and sent Anunu to the rail in 26th place.

Koray Turker Eliminated in 28th Place ($8,600)

Koray Turker on Day 2

When play is down to the final nine the average chip stack will be approximately 866,000. If we take this into account then it was safe to say that Koray Turker and Phillip Willcocks were both primed to make a run at becoming the APPT Melbourne Main Event champion, with both players having close to a million chips before this hand played out.

The action folding to Willcocks on the button, who made it 14,000 to go. Turker made the call and a flop would be dealt.

Flop: {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Turker led for 21,000 and Willcocks popped it to 65,000 before Turker three-bet to 165,000. Willcocks made the call and the turn would be dealt.

Turn: {3-Spades}

Turker led for 165,000 continuing his relentless aggression. Willcocks made the call and a huge pot was building.

River: {2-Clubs}

On the river Turker again decided to lead. This time for his entire stack, a massive 650,000. Turker was making a big gamble, going toe-to-toe with the only player in the room with a stack big enough to bust him.

If Willcocks called he would have more than a quarter of the chips in play with 27 players remaining.

Willcocks eventually made the call, tabling his {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a rivered flush, while Turker sent his {q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} into the muck for a failed bluff on the river.

Turker will be licking his wounds after losing his giant chipstack, while this tournament now has a dominating chip leader in Phillip Wilcocks!

A Double Mascardi

The action was on Eddie Mascardi in late position when he shipped his remaining 50,000 in the middle and received a call from Fabian Craib in the small blind.

Craib: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Mascardi: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs} would devestate Mascardi who was looking like heading towards the rail and with no help on the {5-Diamonds} turn, it was all but over.

The {a-Hearts} on the river would save Mascardi's life as he raked in the pot and Craib became one of the shorter stacks in the room.
