Bills Sends Anunu Home

Mishel Anunu has just been eliminated, and that gives Liam O'Rourke a small chance to still become ANZPT Player of the Year. O'Rourke has to finish second in order to take the lead.

Anunu was just all in pre flop for around 100,000 chips against James Bills, and failed to get lucky.

Mishel Anunu{A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
James Bills{A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, and Bills added some more chips to his big stack. Anunu finished in 26th place and took home $8,455.

Benn Skidding Home in 27th

Benn Skender is the latest player to be eliminated with an in-the-money finish. We didn't catch all the action, but the board showed {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Skender was all in on the river, with {a-}{a-} out in front of him. Sam Razavi was the player who dealt the fatal blow, showing {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the flush. With that, Skender was sent home in 27th place.

Hornung Doubles Through Rubie

Brendon Rubie raised from the cutoff to 12,000, and Gunther Hornung three-bet to 30,000 from the big blind. Rubie decided to put his opponent all in, and the German called his remaining chips off for a total of 87,500.

Brendon Rubie{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Gunther Hornung{A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, and after Rubie had taken the lead after the flop it was Hornung who came out on top. He made runner-runner straight and doubled up.

Vineet Doubles Through the Leader

We didn't catch the precise action, but when we arrived at the feature table, Vineet Jindal was busy getting his stack all in holding {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} on a {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. Bentley had his monster stack in the middle, holding {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for straight and flush draws. Fortunately for Jindal the turn and river were both black and both picture cards, sending him a big double and leaving Bentley with around one million in chips.

Chop it Up!

On a {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop Mishel Anunu checked to Ismail Ismail who bet 14,500. Anunu called, and the turn was the {10-Clubs}. Both players checked.

On the river the {3-Hearts} hit, and Anunu bet 23,000. Ismail put his opponent all in, and he called immediately.

Ismail showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, and laughed when Anunu turned over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

"I was freerolling on the turn," Ismail said as both players took back their bets. Play on!

Warner First In-the-Money Elimination

Ashley Warner is the first player to be sent home with a min-cash. His elimination came at the hands of Kristian Lunardi. It was unfortunate cooler situation for Warner, running his {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} into Lunardi's {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} all-in preflop. The board changed nothing and it was all over in 28th place for Warner.

Walker Doubling

Keith Walker has just double through Wayne Bentley over on the feature table. Walker held {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} and was up against Bentley's {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. Walker snagged a set on the {2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop and while a {q-Clubs} came on the turn, the river bricked off and Walker doubled.

Anunu In Better Shape

Mishel Anunu will be stoked to have made the money. After all, it's puts him at the top of the ANZ Player of the Year leader board. He has even more to smile about now, managing to see his stack increase to around 85,000 in chips. The hand in question began when Ashley Warner opened the hi-jack seat to 12,000. Michael Kanaan called on Warner's direct left and Anunu shoved all in for around 30,000 on the button. Warner opted to fold and Kanaan called.

Anunu: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Kanaan: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The board was a safe {k-Spades}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} for Anunu, sending him more than a double up.

Marsland Bubbles; Bentley Booms Past a Millie

It didn't take long to burst the bubble, with Dale Marsland the unfortunate player to find the rail in 29th place.

The hand in question began with the chip leader, Wayne Bentley, opening the pot with a raise. Marsland then three-bet to 37,000 and the action was sent back around to Bentley, who four-bet an extra 75,000. Marsland opted to shove his chips in, having a stack of around 300,000. Bentley gave slight a smile and took around ten seconds before he called, turning over {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} as he did so. Marsland looked a little shocked, tabling his {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

The {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} board was not friendly to Marsland, sending him home as the bubble boy. With that, the remaining 28 players are in the money, and Bentley is far and away the chip leader.

Bubble Double For Rubie

Brendon Rubie was just all in for his tournament life on the bubble, a sign that he didn't come here for just a min cash.

Tam Truong just raised to 13,000 from middle position and Rubie opted to three-bet to 30,500 from the small blind. Truong put more pressure on the Australian youngster by sliding out 113,000 chips. Rubie took his chances and moved all in for 163,000. Truong called.

Tam Truong{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Brendon Rubie{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}, and Rubie doubled up. He's now a serious threat in this event!
